He nodded slowly as she mentioned the World Cup. He remembered that event, though he hadn't been involved and to his knowledge, neither had any of his family. He waited patiently for her to continue, to explain.
Nathan held her tight, sensing that she needed grounding. He still didn't understand completely, though he was starting to get the gist of where this was going. And, he thought, it wasn't to what she blamed herself for--that young, that situation, it had been an accident, or so it sounded like it was building to.
Because she was no killer.
He made a soothing sound, rubbing gentle circles on her back and not caring that she was getting him all wet. "This doesn't sound like it's your fault at all," he said gently, though she wasn't done. He was pretty damned sure it wasn't.
