♦ The outcome of this match was determined before game start by a coin toss. ♦ Ravenclaw scored four goals. April Foster scored the first goal of the game and went on to score once more. Michaela Greengrass also scored twice. Zoe Ainsworth was goalless. ♦ Slytherin scored two goals. Briar Dobbs scored once. Sasha Dawson also scored once, and Sarah Dawson was goalless. ♦ The match lasted one hour and seventeen minutes. Conditions were good, with an overcast sky and brief sunny spells throughout. There was a slight breeze, though it did little to help or hinder the players. ♦ Sarah Dawson was the first to grab the Quaffle after the whistle blew, instantly passing to teammate Briar Dobbs, who wasted no time in heading for the Ravenclaw goalposts. Unfortunately for her, Samuel Oxley was on hand with a well-aimed Bludger that made Dobbs drop the Quaffle directly into the hands of April Foster. She then proceeded to score the first goal of the game. ♦ Just eleven minutes after play began and with Ravenclaw already ten points up, Zoe Ainsworth made an unfortunate mistake in which she accidentally flew into the Keeper's circle. It didn't slip past Hooch, who instantly gave a penalty to the Snakes. Sasha Dawson took it and succeeded, bringing the score to one goal apiece. ♦ The Slytherin Beaters were clearly on top form today. When Ravenclaw’s Michaela Greengrass was heading toward the goalposts with the intent of scoring, Felix Goldstein hit a Bludger at her stomach and knocked the wind out of her. Greengrass barely managed to remain on her broom, but she dropped the Quaffle and it was snatched up by Briar Dobbs. Hermione Kirke was distracted by yet another masterful Bludger, this time hit by Elizabeth Greyfriars, which allowed Dobbs to score. ♦ Seemingly undeterred by the actions of the Slytherin Beaters, it wasn’t long before Michaela Greengrass bounced back. Sadly, her next three attempts at the Slytherin goalposts were fruitless, as each shot was masterfully blocked or caught by an intently focused Dominic Wood. ♦ It appeared that the game was going to end about thirty minutes in, as Rhys Entwhistle was seen hurtling towards the Ravenclaw goalposts in eager pursuit of the Snitch. Before opposing Seeker Thomas Nightcroft was able to catch up, Lloyd Carmichael was able to successfully divert Entwhistle’s course, with the Snitch disappearing once again and the game continuing. ♦ There was dispute between both teams and spectators around the fiftieth minute that required both Captains to intervene when a Bludger, hit by Samuel Oxley, almost collided with Dominic Wood. Seeing as the Quaffle was nowhere near Wood at the time, the Slytherin stands erupted with calls for a foul. Hooch did not penalize the Eagles, however, and the game proceeded. ♦ In a rather impressive display, Ravenclaw Keeper Hermione Kirke managed to stop a goal from Sasha Dawson by hitting the Quaffle away with her broom tail and directly into the hands of April Foster, who then proceeded to zoom up the pitch and score for the Eagles once more, bringing the score to 40-20 to Ravenclaw. ♦ During the dying minutes of the game, all eyes were on the respective house Seekers. Both Rhys Entwhistle and Thomas Nightcroft spent their time marking one another in an attempt to find the Snitch. It was Nightcroft who first saw the sliver of gold, soaring towards it with Entwhistle hot on his tail. After a very well aimed Bludger from Felix Goldstein managed to stop the Ravenclaw Seeker in midair, Entwhistle soared victoriously and the Snakes came out on top. |
