It was alarming the amount of useless stuff Liadine was accumulating. And though most of it was confined to her quarters, this her own precondition of belonging to The Garage crew, sometimes she made messes. It was strange that for a creature that was usually only the size of her human hand that she could expand so far and clutter so much. But she did and with great efficiency.
Today it was balloons.
More precisely, balloons she had untied from a mailbox. One floated away before she realized that these things needed to be held by the strings. And so she wandered off with four red balloons and one large, decorated square one which read, "Happy Birthday Josh!"
What was the point of having well-wishing balloons for Josh if he wasn't even at the mailbox to see them.
She entered the garage with no amount of quiet, but unfortunately for Mitch, the Garage itself was always some level of noisy. If he hadn't heard her coming, it wasn't because she was stealthy. Dressed in a loose-fitting top and a skirt, the sandal-clad hippie fae felt it was a good idea to release and study the balloons in the Staff Only room. Mitch was in there, she noticed, but his back was turned to her, his eyes glued to some sort of square, whirring machine. The things these humans dedicated their time and attention to was weird.
Releasing all but one red balloon, she tugged it down by the string, her hands pressing against the voluminous, helium-filled rubber. She pinched it, bopped it, rattled it, and at last decided to pop it.
