Nick blinked and looked over at the young man who, as far as he knew, he'd never met in his life. He was further surprised when said young man pulled him down and kissed him.
"I'm still mostly straight, but it's damn good to see you," he said with a sly smile.
Nick blinked.
"I have no idea what you're talking about."
And the young man, known commonly as Seph, sighed.
"So I'm guessing. So you didn't die during the Second Tutu Battle?"
Nick looked rather perturbed at the idea and shook his head.
"So you're still head of security?"
Nick nodded.
"Well, in my universe I was."
...
Seph blinked.
"Mon Dieu, encore?"
"Again what?"
"Things happen," he said with a wry smile, "and I have no idea what's going on, you do, and you act like it's perfectly normal."
"...I admit, it is a habit of mine. But I don't know you yet, all right? I've just arrived, along with some others and no doubt we'll get more."
"From another universe," he deadpanned.
"From my set of universes," Nick said in reply.
There was a long pause.
"So..."
"Well," Nick said, "three heads of security is mildly ridiculous."
"Three?"
"Michael is something of a co-head, or he was. He's been relatively busy of late."
"Michael as in..."
"The monster hunter, yes."
"...okay."
Considering his own relationship with the Church, the two of them had interesting discussions. Or he and his Michael did. He wondered, when he returned, which Michael it would be.
"So..."
"You take dayshift, I take nightshift?"
Seph thought about it.
"Sounds fine to me. But the rest?"
"The rest," Nick said with a faint smile, "will no doubt settle with time."
