Benjamin was aggravated and relieved by the sight that greeted him. At least there seemed to be no infection, but he should have gone to John's and forced medical attention on him already. He had underestimated how badly his throat was taking to the cold; an easy mistake to make with a patient one never saw anymore. He'd been a prick.
"At least there's no infection," he told John, and straightened up. "If you are here, I take it that I don't need to ask how badly it hurts?" Since the answer would obviously be 'a hell of a lot'.
