who: rebecca monroe and benny davenport what: going out after each of their respective shows where: they're on the move status: in progress
Having skipped out on the get together with her show tonight, Rebecca hurried home, rather excited to be going out with someone besides her cast mates for once. It wasn't that she didn't love the others in the show, it was just nice to have some variety. Variety was the spice of life! And Rebecca loved spice. Love, love, loved it! So, getting home and taking a quick moment to love on her cat (a good belly scratching just couldn't be ignored when he rolled over for her!) she climbed into the shower to start getting ready. Not even fifteen minutes went by before she was out and drying herself off, making sure she wasn't dripping anywhere because that just made putting any kinds of clothes on difficult. Another fifteen and she was dressed, working on blowing drying her hair enough that she wouldn't get sick and have to opt out of some shows. That was the last thing she wanted. Wither her hair finally dry (and straight tonight!) she went on to her makeup, figuring a little wouldn't hurt for the evening.
Benny... Benny didn't take that much time to get ready. He just headed on over to her building, once his show was over and he'd signed every autograph that needed to be signed. His hair was all a mess, as always, sticking out in every direction. He had on jeans, a navy blue dress shirt-- untucked, of course, and a brown dress coat. That was his idea of looking decent. He hoped it worked for Rebecca. That she wouldn't think he was a complete mess or anything like that. He was also very careful to reapply whatever deodorant he wore... especially after his show. Axe, most likely. It was strong and long lasting. Ha. Making his way up to her floor, Benny wandered down the hall to find her door. Reaching up to give a light knock, once he'd found it.-
Becca was a girl, she liked to embrace the stereotype of taking a bit of time to get ready. Especially when it came to going out with a guy, a guy she found to be cute in more than one way. She was just applying her lip gloss, looking down at Mojo curling around her feet, his tail flicking at her dress to get attention, when the knock was heard on the door. Finishing up quickly she headed for the door, grabbing her white jacket off the back of a chair as she did. It matched her whit skirt and the pink t-shirt she'd put on as well. Nothing fancy, just nice enough for a night walking through the city. Pulling open the door she grinned, "Hey! How'd the show go?" Not being sure what to call him just yet she refrained from using his name, but that wouldn't last for long. ~
He smiled when she opened the door for him, "Hey!" and it wasn't long before his smile spread into a grin as well. He hesitated a moment in his decision, before he finally said what the hell, and leaned in to slip his arms around her to pull her into a hug. "It went great!" he began as he pulled back from the quick and harmless hug. He chuckled, "it's a fun show. My back's killing me a little, but I took some Advil, so it's all good." Had she seen the show? "You've seen it, right? I walk on my knees the whole time-- and it's weird.. I've got these kneepads that MUST have been made by Nasa or something... so my knees are just fine. the strain on my back? Not so much."
The hug was fine with her, returning it without question and pulling back, brushing some hair out of her face as she did. "Thats great! About it going well, not the back thing, thats rather crappy but the things one does for a show right?" 9 times out of 10 her feet were killing her by the end of the night. But a good soak always fixed that. "I have scene the show, went to he opening in fact, but I haven't seen it since." Making a small face and shrugging her shoulders, hoping he wasn't offended or anything. "I do give you credit though, I don't think I would be able to walk around on knee pads all night long, you must really love your part." Pulling on the jacket she'd grabbed, making sure her hair wasn't tucked in after doing so, she pointed down the hallway, asking if they should leave.
He was glad she didn't mind the hug. It was a nice hug, in his opinion. Nodding, he chuckled once again, "Oh man. The things I've done for shows! You're telling me," he grinned holding up his hands in defense. "Hey, now.. I don't mind that you've only seen the show once.. seeing it once is probably more than you need to see. But the kids love it. And I do enjoy my part quite a bit.." he sighed, though still smiling, "but I'm ready to move on." His brows lifted with attention when she pointed down the hallway. His eyes followed, and he nodded, "oh! Right," he moved out of her way to wait for her to step out and lock her door. Of course she'd want to go! Not have her ear talked off in her doorway all night. Silly Benny. Sheesh. "So... I was thinking.. I dunno.. have you had dinner?" He had. Well, before his show around six that evening.
"I had dinner before my show, but I more than likely worked all of that off so I could deal with a snack, if thats what you had in mind that is." Tucking her keys back into her purse and looping it over her shoulder she walked with him down the hallway, not at all bothered by the talking mind you. "So you mentioned being ready to move on? Does that mean you aren't planning on trying to stay longer than your contract?" Rebecca understood that need completely, the need for something different after doing the same show (with minor differences) night after night after night. Sometimes it just got so...dull. Sometimes it could even reach mind-numbing. "I think I'm just before that road bump in my show."
He smiled, "Yeah, I was thinking about a snack maybe... Or a drink. Both, even? Cheesecake?" He started down the hall with her, toward the elevator. Nodding, he looked over at her, "Yeah. I'm ready to move on. Not necessarily because of the show's contents... but because I think my back's had enough. I've already got enough problems with it as it is. I'd rather not mess it up anymore than it already is." He chuckled, stepping ahead to push the button to call the elevator. "So, nope.. not planning on staying longer than my contract. I need something new."
"Oh cheesecake is good. I love cheesecake, no way I would turn it down." Tucking her hands into her pockets she walked slowly down the hall with him, waiting patiently at the elevator when they arrived, the doors opening almost immediately as he pressed the call button. Apparently it hadn't been used since he'd gotten off on her floor, "That is a highly logical reason to need to move on, if you're back goes crazy then who knows what kind of things you'll be able to do. For me, I move on mostly when things just start becoming too routine. The entire reason I even got into acting...or stayed in it rather...was because I enjoyed the excitement of something new every day."
"I love that aspect of acting. It's a new day, a new audience, new reactions, new moments that you and your fellow castmates have created all the time. I love it." He waited for her to step onto the elevator, and he followed behind her, turning to push the button for the 1st floor. "and yeah.. back when I was nearing the end of the run of Producers-- after I took over as Leo, I slipped a disc. Not so much fun. I was messed up for quite some time. in turn, I din't get to do the show I wanted to do.. so.. yeah." He smiled, looking over to her, "ever been to Roxy's?"
Leaning back against the wall of the elevator she crossed one leg over the other, "Its it great? The entire rush you get when something goes wrong, or the audience is fueling you with their excitement? Its like...There really isn't any way to explain it to someone who has never experienced it, I've tried and words just fail me." Rolling her bottom lip into her mouth, chewing on it as she listened to him her head wound up tilting to the side, "What show did you miss out on?" Well now she was curious!
The doors slid open and Rebecca led the way off the elevator and towards the exit, "No, I've played a Roxie but I've never been there. Planned on it, but things just always came up every time." She shrugged her shoulders.
"Oh, I love it, like I said. I used to be terrified out of my mind when something would go wrong. Now, it's sort of a treat that you don't hope for-- but when it does happen, it's always interesting to see how it's dealt with." He chuckled, shaking his head, "Young Frankenstein. I really wanted to do it," he shrugged, "I just couldn't." When the doors opened, he followed her off the elevator and toward the exit. "Well... It's a tourist hangout on Times Square. But they've got excellent cheesecake.. so, I figured you wouldn't mind too much. All sorts of different flavors too."-
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. Nothing sucks worse than not getting parts that you really want. Maybe in the future?" She offered hopefully, looking down both sides of the sidewalk, turning on the toes of her feet trying to figure out what they were doing. "Taxi or walking?" She wasn't the closest to Times Square, though walking wasn't too outlandish. Not for New York at least. It could be SO much worse. It was just all depending on what he preferred. "Nope, I don't mind at all. The more flavors the better in my opinion, and I trust yours on the excellence of cheesecake." There was a soft laugh as she spoke, her giving a wave to the doorman at the same time, "So whats your favorite kind?"
"Oh, yeah. I know. I was mad for about a month. And then when the show opened, I was mad again!" He chuckled, "but then Gypsy came along.. and I had lots of fun there, won the Tony.. got to be in a show with Nora Gail," whom he had previously dated, but things fell apart. Including himHe was keeping busy just as the psychiatrist had suggested. Oooh, Bennigan Davenport had many dark secrets. Nothing too terrible. He just wasn't perfect, we'll put it that way. "uum," he tucked his hands into his pockets, glancing around, "let's see.. you wanna walk in those shoes? or would you rather we catch a Taxi? It doesn't matter to me. I walk everywhere," he shrugged. "Taxi's quicker. Hm? My favorite kind? Probably the Snickers kind.. or Turtle Cheesecake.. or Reese's Peanut Butter Cheesecake."
"Both are amazing shows, at least you got to do one of them. I've had three slip between my fingers in a row before, for one reason or anything." Rolling her eyes at remembering how she'd been told they were going another way, to she would be better for another part or God knows what. It didn't matter. Those were things she didn't want to think about at the moment. Everyone had dark secrets in their closest. "Um..." Looking down to her shoes she shrugged her shoulders again, "The shoes don't really matter much to me, but the taxi would be quicker and its a little cold out." As he spoke of the different kinds her mouth was starting to water a bit, "Oh my gosh, Reeses Peanut Butter cheesecake? I think you've just made me the happiest person in the world right now." Stepping towards the curb she stuck her hand out to hail a taxi, not sure how well that would work this time of night.
"This is true," he nodded, "though, I would have looooved Young Frankenstein." He smiled, watching her, his brows lifting with surprise when she mentioned it was cold out, "would you like my coat?" Well, of COURSE he'd offer it! He wasn't a jerk. He smirked, however, when she seemed to get excited that there was Reese's Peanut Butter Cheesecake, "Mhmm. it's my favorite! I have to get a piece a LEAST once a month. It's my guilty pleasure. I'll buy us a whole one. You have to help me eat it," he chuckled and watched as she hailed a taxi for them. "Look at you. An expert. Usually I have to wait for the fifth or sixth taxi to go by before one actually stops!"
Tilting her head to the side she shook her head, a smile on her face, "Thank you for the offer, but I'll be fine for now. Later though...I just might take you up on it." Wrinkling her nose playfully she watched the street to see if a taxi was going to be pulling over or not, it looking like their chances this time were pretty damn good, "An entire cheesecake? You realize that at the most I'd eat about two slices, and thats with taking some of it home." Watching the cab pull up in front of them she grinned, opening the door and starting to climb inside, "I do have some nice legs, it always works."
