i'm not dismissing how nice christmas lights are even at their most basic level of decoration, but the better the lights, the more ~christmas spirit~ you feel seeing them. people don't walk around neighborhoods with normal christmas lights just to enjoy them, but when there's a street full of elaborate christmas displays and lights? people go there just to walk around and take it all in.
