Ah... I think you misunderstand. I was talking about how elements of older cultures sometimes become a part of newer, if still ancient, cultures. Where I'm from a majority of people believe in one form of polytheism or another. Personally, I was brought up in a tradition of a tri-part, monotheistic religion, which probably makes as much sense, or as little, as any other.
For a long time I lived in accordance with the old aphorism, 'A man without religion is like a fish without a bicycle.' Of late I've been reconsidering my opinion.
