Bill/Ten
In her defense, the explosions were usually very useful. Shot a Dalek in the eyepiece with a bloody rocket launcher once. And before you make the mistake of thinking I'd brought some hardened soldier along, she was a teenager at the time. Did he? Must have been some utter scumbag of a Lord then, unless he's become more violent in his old age. I assume he really deserved it?
...Well, yes and no. I did learn to be more discerning, but it didn't stop me from inviting her ex boyfriend along a while later for the exact same reason. He proved to be made of much stronger stuff, and that's an invite I don't regret, but- well, I did mention I wasn't very good with the emotional side of things.
On the off chance he does show up here, just try to call him rude names while I'm around, then, yeah? He's got homicidal tendencies, sure, but he's easily distracted by his intense dislike for me. I'd really rather not see you die. That still boggles my mind a bit. So long as you prove what you've learned through your actions, there's really no need for essays about it.
Are you sure it's a need? Sounds more like a want, and yeah, wants can be powerful things, but they aren't the same as needs.
Better question; would you still choose to stay here if it was... I dunno, the Matrix? Some pleasant life being presented just so you could be used as a battery? Or what if it was a creation of the Monks, meant to distract you so that you couldn't stop them?
It's like you said, we don't really know anything about this. We don't know their motives.
