Who: Scott and Artemis Where: Her place When: Jan 5 (backdated a wee bit) What: Checking in Status: Complete
Once again, everything was falling down around their ears. Once again, it was because of that Hurley bastard. He’d stolen Artemis...how he’d done that without getting gutted, Scott didn’t know. Everything went to hell quickly with Stiles getting shot, then bit and….yeah. Everything was completely FUBARed.
Stiles had been settled in a quite ah...satisfying manner. Cora made off with Stiles as soon as she got home, kind of reeking of alcohol, Peter and Ava. Scott didn’t want to know. Once the mostly happy couple were locked away in their bedroom Scott left to go check on Artemis. There was no certainty she’d let him in, but he knocked quietly on her door all the same.
-- Artemis had cursed herself time and time again since returning home. Insisting to Scott that she was fine and he should just go. Which he did. Once he was gone, it allowed Art to have the privacy she needed to tend to her wounds. Wounds she had made sure to keep hidden from Scott. The wounds weren’t much, but the scarring would be permanent, that much she was certain of.
With a day to recover, she would ear Scott’s steps outside her door. Only to exhale deeply as she came to a stand. The minute he knocked on her door, she would come to open it. Already she came to narrow her eyes at him as she stepped to the side to let him in. once inside that door would be shut as she came to lean against it, with her arms crossed along her chest.
“Didn’t think I’d see you anytime soon.”
--
“And what ridiculous notion put that idea in your head?” he asked in a quiet, but light tone as he took the invitation to enter. “I told you. You’re my friend. I care about my friends, and I wanted to see if you were okay. Hurley is a bastard that makes Peter look sane.”
He waited for the door to be shut before he looked at Artemis with his brows lifted. “How are you?”
***
That brow of hers arched up. “I don’t know Peter.” She said with a shrug of her shoulder. Once he asked her if she was okay, all she did was shrug her shoulders once more. “I told you, I’m fine.” She replied with as she came to move off the door frame. The only thing about those scars is they weren’t visible and they were located along her rib cage, so it wasn’t like he was going to see them.
“How are your friends?”” She asked, since she remembered Stiles getting shot. And Gideon rushing out that hideout with him. And despite disliking each other she hoped the idiot was alive. But she would come to notice the look on his face. “What is it?” She asked with a brow arched up for the moment.
--
Scott heaved a bit of a sigh and let some of the weight he was carrying show through. He trusted Artemis enough to let his guard down this much. “Gideon bit Stiles to save his life.” The rest wasn’t his to tell. Gideon or Stiles could tell her about Stiles refusing the offer and Gideon doing it anyway.
*** Art would come to nod her head. “Okay.” She said, not really sure what the problem was. But then again she didn’t really understand Scott’s pack all that well either. Already she motioned towards the couch to have a seat as she came to sit down next to him. Already she came to exhale for the moment as she came to a stand once more. Only to move to the kitchen for a moment.
It wasn’t long before she came back with two bottles of water and handed one to Scott. Art would notice it, the stress he was under. Thinking for the moment or rather not thinking much about it, she came to bring her hand through his hair, to sort of relieve some of his stress. Unsure if it would work or not, but she did it anyways.
---
Touch was always reassuring so the hand to his hair did help. It pulled a small smile from Scott, and he muttered a thank you as he took the water. “It’ll be more than a little adjustment for Stiles.
“It’s...going to be an adjustment for him. He never really wanted this life.” Scott looked down at the bottle that was held between his hands. “Not the fighting to beat the bad guy life. I think he thought that was kind of fun at times. I mean the whole….not human life.”
*** Art came to nod her head as she listened to Scott. “It was that or he dies. He’ll get over it once he sees what he can really do.” She replied as she looked at him. “By the way, you stink again.” She replied lightly as she pulled her hand away and came to open her water and take a sip from it. Only to brush her dark hair from her face.
“..I never told you.. Thanks.” She said as she glanced away from him for the moment. But she came to glance in his direction shortly afterwards as she came to rest her head on his shoulder. “You’re an idiot for doing that though.”
---
Scott wasn’t so sure. Stiles would know what he can do since he was there with Scott since day one. But he guessed it didn’t matter. Stiles would have to live with it. The accusation got an amused huff from him, however. “It’s gonna happen,” he said with a smile. “Sorry.”
His smile softened as he leaned his head against hers where it rested on his shoulder. “I can live with being an idiot if it meant getting you out of there.”
***
“You’re not sorry.” She said shaking her head. Only to feel him rest his head on top of hers. A low growl escaped her lips as she came to poke his side, rather hard. “You are still an idiot. No one told you to do that.” She said looking at him suddenly as she narrowed her eyes at him.
“You don’t need to risk your life or your packs life for me, Scott. I was fine. I had everything under control. What if something would of happened to you huh? Because of me?” She said poking him again rather hard this time. Only to shake her head at him again and sip her water. “You are truly an idiot.”
---
He grinned. No he wasn’t sorry at all. The chuckle escaped after his ribs got poked then it became a laugh for the harder poke. Scott flinched away from her as he grinned at her, catching her hand to keep from getting poked again.
“I know I didn’t need to,” he said. He smiled at Artemis as he shook his head. “And I know you had it under control. But I wanted to help, and so did my pack and my friends. That’s what we do.”
***
When he came to grab her hands she growled once more. Only to shake her head at him. “And you’re all idiots for doing that.” She said as she sighed deeply and looked down for the moment. “But I’m an even bigger idiot.” She said slightly as she growled once more. “Because apparently, I like an idiot Alpha.” She said as she brought her gaze to look up at Scott.
She still left her hands in his grasp for the moment as she came to look away now. Her cheeks turning a slight shade of pink at her small confession about liking him.
--
At first Scott took what she said at face value. But then, noticing their hands, the not meeting his eyes thing, the coloring of her cheeks and her heartbeat...Scott got a clue. This was one time he was definitely not going to make fun of her or poke at her dignity. Instead he smiled as he reached out to tuck a lock of her hair behind her ear.
“Cool,” he said in a casual tone. “I like you too.” And he meant it the way she did. He felt he should be surprised, but he wasn’t. There was something about Artemis that appealed to him.
*** When she felt him tuck a strand of her hair behind her ear, it caused her to look in his direction, a bit taken back by the action in a sense. But, if that didn’t catch her off guard his own confession of liking her aas well sure did. “You do?” She said more so a bit surprised at that. After all, Art knew she wasn’t the nicest person in the world, and his best-friend slash boyfriend hated her. So, that made things a bit interesting in her head.
“I’m an evil bitch, why would you like me?” The words left her as quickly as she thought of them.
--
“You act like an evil bitch,” Scott corrected as he gave that lock of hair a small tug. “But you aren’t an evil bitch. Stiles just needs the chance to get to know you. And I think you both should give each other a chance after this.” He lifted his brows at her.
“Things with the packs are going to change.” And he still wasn’t sure how he felt about that. “I’d like you to be part of it.”
*** She came to roll her eyes lightly when he tugged at her hair. Only to swat at his hand. “I really doubt that.” She said as she shook her head. But sighed for the moment. Only to hear his offer once more. She thought for a moment. “..Fine..” She said lightly as she came to look at him.
“Don’t make it weird.” She said warning him with a light growl as she watched him closely. But she did lean over and kiss his cheek. “And I am an evil bitch. Don;t forget that.”
---
“Yeah?” Scott’s smile turned into a grin. Finally! Then she warned him before he could do more than get an idea to hug her, and he chuckled instead. The kiss melted the grin back into a smile. “Right. Evil and a bitch. Got it.” Then he kissed her. Nicely, slowly and gently.
*** She rolled her eyes for the moment. But once that kiss was given, and the nature of the way he kissed her, it caused her to slightly melt. Her hand coming to rest on his chest and shoulder, as she returned that kiss just as slowly and gently as he introduced her too.
That soft moan escaping her lips as she came to finally pull away from his lips as she slowly opened green eyes to look at him. “You.. Are going to be trouble.” She said lightly as she shook her head and let out a gentle laugh.
---
He liked it when she kissed back like that. Sure, the desperate, MUST HAVE YOU NOW kissing was awesome, but this was something more...special. And considering it wasn’t Artemis’ usual style Scott appreciated it when she showed it to him.
He grinned with a chuckle, looking into her eyes. “I can live with that.”
