Angela was excited. It was an understatement, but it was still true. It had been years since the doctor had celebrated Christmas. She had when she was a child, but Christmas wasn't the same when her parents died. She found school work to keep herself busy with. Even when she was in college, she made sure to work Christmas shifts so she wouldn't think about the holiday. She celebrated Christmas in Overwatch, with her new family, but that had to end as well. Sure, she used to speak with Reinhardt and Torbjorn would send her apple pies his wife baked, but it became painful. It was worth diving into work again.
Things had changed though. She was in Preya now. She made a new friend and she was going to teach him what the excitement was all about. She decorated the outside of small, one story house with big, red ribbons. A gold wreath with an angel on it was hung over the door. Inside, there were white lights around her fireplace. Her tree was decorated with white lights and gold balls. There was a small, felt angel at the top that looked like her, back from her Overwatch days. Under the tree there were a few gifts for Loki that she had wrapped. She couldn't wait for him to open them. The rooms in her house smelled of cookies, as she spent most of the morning baking chocolate chip and peanut butter cookies. It wasn't a proper breakfast, but it was Christmas. The smell of sweets, the snow outside, the twinkling lights - it all brought forth childlike amusement for Angela.
She looked over everything one last time and stopped when she came to the tree. Beside the gifts there was a letter addressed to Angela. She didn't remember that being there. Looking around, she knelt down and looked it over. The handwriting looked familiar but- no. It couldn't be.
Opening the letter, she found it was.
Inside the envelope was a letter from Genji, along with a sparrow feather. He always left one behind as his symbol and nickname. She had many others from him. The letter, however, told of his training with an omnic monk named Zenyatta. He told her how hard it was at first, but he learned balance in his cyborg body. He also spoke of meeting his brother again, telling him that he was alive, and how he spared his life. He might have given in to his anger in the past, but because of her and because of Zenyatta, he had learned forgiveness. He thanked her and ended the letter with something in his native language - これ から も ずっと よろしく ね.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she repeated the words. "Kore kara mo zutto yoroshiku ne. Oh, Genji." Hugging the letter, she chuckled and wiped her eyes. She missed him, but it was too late. She was gone and she wouldn't see him again. Even if it was a bit late, at least she knew she made a difference to someone. Maybe she could do it once again.
