Gamora hadn’t expected Quill, Rocket and Groot to be here in Preya. Why, she wasn’t sure, but nonetheless...there it was. However, it was the fact that Rocket and Groot looked like Terrans instead of themselves that put Gamora on her ear. And Groot had a vocabulary that existed of more than three words! Gamora needed a drink...and answers. She managed to find a bar, “charmed” her way onto a barstool then had a lengthy discussion with the bartender about what to drink. Preya, it seems, didn’t have a universal menu of beverages, and finding a Terran one that was comparable to what she’d like took a little while. Finally, she had a glass of what the bartender called Tequila and the turned to look out over the crowd. This was going to take a little adjustment. Rocket had been glad to see that Gamora had shown up in Preya, finally, but he still found it weird that they didn't seem to remember the exact same things, which was weird to him. But whatever, they were all here, minus Drax. He was pretty sure they could all have some fun in this place. They all deserved it after everything they had gone through. He had spent a few hours pickpocketing anyone who was stupid enough to get pickpocketed and when he had enough cash, he made his way to the nearest bar, which just happened to be the same place Gamora had ended up in. Grinning, he sat down next to her and told the bartender to give him the strongest thing that they had. "Sooooooooooo, this place really did give you a color change. How pissed are you?" Always aware of her surroundings, Gamora had watched the guy walk by then take the seat next to her. She’d already had to stare down a few guys more driven by their hormones than their brains, so she anticipated another round of that with this guy. Until he spoke and she recognized that voice. “Rocket?!” Gamora dropped her aggressive posture to look at her fellow Guardian….in the eyes. That was really weird. “You look worse in person!” Which pissed her off more than her color change. The look Gamora gave him almost made him want to laugh. he knew that look. He knew it well. It was the I can kill you if I want look. But lucky for him, he wasn't some random guy trying to pick her up. "The one and only," he said with a goofy looking grin. "I know. I hate it. I want my body back, but I don't think that's happenin'. Not as long as we're stuck here." He grabbed his drink the second it was placed down in front of him and took a swig. "You think I look bad. Wait until you see Groot." Gamora huffed with a smile trying to tug a corner of her lips upwards. If she needed proof beyond the voice to know this was Rocket everything that was coming out of his mouth settled the matter. She lifted a brow as she smirked. “If my skin color wasn’t going to blend with the population of this place your real form sure wouldn’t either.” Her eyes went to her drink.at the mention of Groot. Of all of them, she had tried to give the little guy some kind of nurturing...when the others weren’t looking. “How’s he handling it?” she asked. Right now she didn’t really care if Rocket noticed or not, but if he said one thing in mockery she’d put him on his ass. Rocket sighed. “I don’t want to blend in.” That’s what he liked about himself. He was the one and of his kind and now he just looked like everyone else. It was horrible. “Seems to be handling it okay. He made a friend with some creepy girl,” he told her as he downed the rest of his drink and told the bartender to get him more. “He said something about his woman,” Gamora said with a question in her voice. “Did he mean girlfriend? Please tell me he didn’t mean girlfriend!” Groot was in no way ready for something like that, let alone with a humanoid. More specifically, she wasn’t ready for Groot to be in something like that. It wasn’t anything she was prepared for. “He told you?” Rocket asked. He hadn’t been sure what Gamora knew or didn’t know since her arrival. “I don’t know,” he said with a slight shrug of his shoulders. “Quill and I were too busy being shocked by the whole ‘my woman’ thing to really get anything else out of Groot.” He took a swig of his drink. “Whoever she is. I don’t like her.” Gamora put down the glass of tequila then signaled for another while arching a brow at human form Rocket. “Who is she and why don’t you like her?” That wasn’t exactly a reason to not like this girl. Rocket didn’t like anyone right off the bat. Gamora should know since she’d been in that position herself. “I don't know,” he said with a slight shrug. “I know her name is Riri and she takes creepy videos of Groot when he’s sleeping and posts them up for everyone to see.” He really had no other information about the girl or he would be sharing it with Gamora. “One, the videos, and two, I just don’t like her.” He really had no other reason. Well, he did, but he wasn’t going to say it outloud. That was inconclusive. Gamora’s lips tightened together as she eyed Rocket….which she was never going to get used to seeing him as humanoid. When the next Tequila was set before her she put it down to dull the weird. “But you don’t like anybody when you first meet them,” she pointed out with a smirk. Rocket finished his drink and demanded more before he looked at Gamora again. “Yeah, and?” This wasn’t brand new information. “Also, you’re not helping.” She really wasn’t. She was supposed to side with him or something. But that wasn’t what was happening. “And...” Gamora drolled. “You didn’t like me, or Peter, or Drax at first but now we are family.” She nodded pointedly then signalled for another Tequila. “So you’re first impressions are not to be trusted. Besides, if Groot likes her then, as his friend, you should try to get to know her.” The Tequila was delivered. Gamora paid then downed the glass. She looked at Rocket with an openly quizzical expression then reached out to catch his chin in her hand. She turned his face one way then the other. “I think you have Peter beat in the rugged department.” Gamora was right, Rocket knew it, which was why he didn’t say anything. Instead, he just let his head thud onto the counter and sighed. After a few seconds he finally sat up straight again. “Fine, fine, I’ll get to know her. But only because it’s for Groot.” He grabbed his drink, ready to take a swig from it when Gamora decided to grab his face and inspect it. “Hey, what’s the big-” he stopped talking and then changed what he was going to ask, “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” he asked, looking a little confused. Some part of Gamora that wasn’t under the influence of Tequila realized what she was doing, and made her release Rocket’s chin. “It’s a thing,” she answered nebulously. She shrugged then ordered another Tequila...because that would help. A distraction would have to be made so she immediately came up with another topic. “What are you going to do for a job?” she asked. “I don’t think this is the kind of place that pays for explosives and incendiaries. “Okay…” Rocket said, still giving Gamora a weird look. He wasn’t going to push it. He just let it pass. He shrugged at her question. “I don’t know. They should pay me for that stuff.” So, instead he just kept up with pickpocketing people since that was the easiest way to get money. “What about you? I doubt this place needs a warrior.” Good. Gamora wouldn’t have answered anyway even if pushed. She just put back more and more Tequila in an effort to dull whatever that weirdness she got was whenever she glanced at Rocket in human form. “I’m not sure, either,” she said as her nailed tapped against her current glass of Tequila. “Observing things I noticed a distinct difference between the law enforcement and security guards in places. I might do that.” “Well, let me know where you end up going, so I can stay far away from those places,” he half joked with a half goofy looking smile. Would he actually try to break into a place? Maybe. He was bored. He had no job. And pickpocketing people was getting a little old. He needed something a little more exciting. He put his head down on the counter again and closed his eyes for a moment. “I wish we hadn’t agreed to come here.” Gamora snorted, her eyes narrowing some, but not from suspicion. She knew what Rocket was up to by saying that, and wouldn’t cast judgment. They were all criminals in one form or another. And if did end up stealing from whatever establishment she worked at, she’d give him a miss...after taking her employer’s property back. Her brows lifted when she saw him put his head down then sighed when she heard what he said. “It’ll be fine,” she said as she rubbed his back. “We’ve adjusted to worse.” Rocket just smiled. He didn’t need to say anymore since Gamora knew exactly what he was getting at. Having her rub his back like that actually felt a little nice, but don’t expect him to admit that. Like, ever. “Yeah,” he started as he sat up straight again, “But at least we were still ourselves and other stuff.” He really didn’t know where he was going with that. His mind was getting a little too foggy from knocking back drink after drink. “I think I might go home…” Gamora wasn’t catching on either but to her Tequila soaked mind it sounded reasonable. So she nodded. “Exactly.” It was...something. Positive. Mostly. Maybe. “Yeah, ok,” Gamora said as she took her hand back. It sounded like a really good idea...not that she knew exactly where she was going to crash. Peter had said she could stay with them. Right now that sounded like a good idea. “I’ll go with you.” He paid for his drinks and stood up. He was going to ask Gamora where she was staying, but he got side tracked with her saying that she was going to go with him. “Okay,” was all he said as he led the way out. Gamora paid for her shots then stood up...only to grab hold of the edge of the bar for a moment as her head spun. When everything settled down she could see Rocket walking away. Rocket’s back. Rocket’s backside. NO! Bad thoughts! BAD thoughts! Gamora frowned as she started to follow Rocket out. This way she’d make sure he got home all right. Then she was going to go pick a fight. Or something. |
