Lydia did leave Mitch a note saying she was going to be with Stiles. What Lydia didn’t expect was to actually get some sleep. She wasn’t sure if it was because she screamed, or because she was with Stiles. Maybe a mixture of both, but one thing was certain. She fell asleep. But unlike the other times she would sleep, Lydia and Stiles both slept for hours. Over twelve to be exact. And with the night time being visible, she would leave Stiles and head back home. Promising to text him later.
When Lydia went to check her phone, she had noticed she had missed calls and texts from Mitch. The only thing she did was a reply to a text telling him she was coming home. She didn’t think much of it. And it showed whens he walked into the apartment finally. Once inside, those keys would be placed to the side as she came to sleep and see Mitch sitting on the couch.
---
When Mitch woke up, he hadn't expected Lydia to be gone and a quick little note that she left saying that she was with Stiles. He had no idea when she left and he had no idea when she would be back, but he kind of didn't like the idea of those two being together. Not because he thought they would do anything, but it seemed like trouble always came at them when they were near one another.
He had left a bunch of message and texts. The later it got, the more he started to wonder if something bad happened again. That was until she finally texted back, letting him know that she was coming home.
He was sitting on the couch, watching the door, waiting for her. And then she walked in. "What did you two get up to?"
*
Lydia just blinked at Mitch for the moment. “What are you talking about?” She asked as she brushed her hair from her face. She didn’t understand the question really. Especially since she always hang out with Stiles. Despite what trouble came at them. It was always them together. Still, she came to start walking towards the bedroom.
She didn’t say anything since she was waiting on Mitch to answer the question. Once inside the bedroom, she would move to the closet as she shut the door slightly and came to change out those clothes. Under her clothes would be the pair of boxers and shirt that belong to Stiles, that he said she could take. It was a comfort thing for Lydia right now. Since she was able to sleep once near Stiles. She assumed it was because of how close they were and the trauma they shared. It was a safety thing.
Once she came out the closet though, she came to look at Mitch by the door as she wore her long sleeve pajamas once more. “What?”
--
“You left a note saying that you were Stiles. It was just a question. What did you two get up to?” It was a simple question. He didn’t think it would be something too difficult to answer.
He got up and followed Lydia into the bedroom, stopping in the doorway as she continued to do what she was doing. He didn’t say anything. Just leaned against the door and watched her. “Nothing. Nothing at all.”
*
“Nothing really. Talked for a bit. He showed me just how badly Hurley beat him…” She said as she sighed a moment. “It’s worse then I remember.” She said as she came to take a seat on the bed. “We ended up finally sleeping together and when I woke up, I came home.” She said as she came to brush her hair slightly.
“Not to mention, I got into a fight with Scott on the drive here.” She replied shaking her head for the moment.
**
"How much do you actually remember?" He was going to ask that question anyway. Right now just seemed like a good enough time to do it.
"You slept together?" he asked, eyebrow raised. His mind was going in the wrong direction, but it was the way she said it. "And why did you end up getting into a fight with Scott?"
*
“I remember enough to want to scream. There are some parts that are fuzzy, I remember Stiles getting taken away during the fuzzy memories.” She said as she came to look at Mitch for the moment. Only to tilt her head for the moment again when he made that face.
“Yeah, we were able to sleep for over twelve hours.” She added as she watched him. “I don’t even know, he sounded like he was accusing me and Stiles of doing something last night. And then he snapped.” She said with a slight shrug of her shoulders.
---
Should he tell her that he could help with the fuzzy bit? Well, sort of. He still had the stuff that Hurley taunted him with the whole time Stiles and Lydia were being held captive. But would showing her or even telling her help anything? He wasn't sure. "Would you want to remember the fuzzy bits?"
Hearing that she was able to sleep for that long was both good and bad. Good because she actually got to sleep. Bad because it took her going to Stiles to do it. It hurt a little. "If you told him the way you just told me, maybe he read it wrong?"
*
When Mitch asked if she wanted to remember. Lydia came to shake her head. “I'm scared to find out.” was all she said. Only thinking about what he said next.
“No. The way he was wording things made it sound like I and Stiles did something wrong,” she said looking to Mitch for a second. “I think though. I can finally sleep tonight. Least sleep home.” she said lightly.
*
“You don’t have to.” If it ended up being something that she wanted, then he’d show her what he had. If not, then he would keep it away from her.
“He’ll get over it.” He felt like maybe he was missing something. Maybe he should talk to Scott. Find out what was going on. “Does this mean I’m not going to wake up to the furniture in a new spot?”
*
Lydia came to shrug. “I guess. Just not sure what his problem is,” she added. When Mitch asked about the furniture all Lydia could do was a shrug.
“No promises, “ she said as she stopped for a moment. “Wait… how do you know what happened?” she asked realizing what Mitch had offered her.
“Im going to sleep on the couch though, “ she said lastly
--
“Do you want me to talk to him?” Maybe he can find out what was bugging Scott without setting him off.
“I don’t know everything, but I still have all the messages, pictures, videos that Hurley taunted me with.”
That wasn’t exactly what he wanted to hear. “Okay…” he walked into the room and then sat down on the edge of the bed. “You know could sleep in here with me.”
*
Already she came to shake her head. “Thanks. But it's fine,” she said about him finding out what was wrong with Scott. Upon hearing that Hurley was sending Mitch videos and pictures all she did was shiver.
“I'm sorry.” was all she said as she came to move to the door and watch Mitch sit on the edge of the bed. Hearing his offer to have her sleep with him there. It was obvious Lydia was thinking about it.
“Alright… but if it becomes too much for me, I'll move to the couch,” she said as she came to move towards that bed and have a seat next to him. “Deal?”
**
“Alright,” was all he said. If she didn’t want him to do it, then he wasn’t going to do it.
“You keep saying that.” He kind of wished that she’d stop apologizing.
It wasn’t completely what he wanted to hear, but it was just something that he was going to have to take.”Yeah, deal.” He really didn’t have much of a choice. It was this or her just going off to the couch right now.
*
Lydia came to notice the look on Mitch’s face. She made her own. “You know… You can tell me if something bothers you, right…” She said as she came to brush her hair from her face for the moment. “I don’t know what else to say. You were worried, Scott was worried, Cora was worried. Stiles was beaten. All because I’m with you.”
She said as she sighed deeply. “I want to be with you. Don’t think I don’t.” She said assuring him that she wouldn’t want to be with anyone else just in case he thought that. “I just wish Hurley wasn’t here. Hopefully that lady can keep him in line.” She said softly as she came to look down and sigh deeply.
“Just tonight… Hold me, okay?” She said as she looked to Mitch for the moment. “And if I start to get unease, kiss me. Just… I want you to be the one who soothes me.”
---
“It’s not easy to hear you say that you were with Stiles last night, but tonight you feel the need to go sleep on the couch.” He wanted to be there for her. Do more for her. But he sort of felt lost on what he could do since he couldn’t even touch her without her flinching. He hated seeing that look on her face. “We have to stop blaming ourselves the way we have been. It is doing nobody any good.” All it did was let Hurley win and he’ll be damned if he was going to let that happen.
“I don’t want him here either. But, he’s stuck here like the rest of us.” At least Irene was in Preya now. She could get a better control on Hurley, which hopefully meant that they could all go back to living their lives without having to look over their shoulders.
“Are you sure?” he asked. “I don’t want to make it worse.”
*
“At the time no one could help. No one really could understand how I felt, except Stiles. I never meant to hurt you, Mitch. If me going to Stiles did, I’m so sorry. “ She said as she came to look at him for the moment. Already she came to exhale deeply. “You know, me flinching has nothing to do with you. But you’re right, I can’t keep saying sorry to you.” She said as she brushed her hair from her face and came to look at Mitch.
“I want you to be my person. Sure, Stiles is my person. But he is my person as a best friend. I want you to be my person in every way.” She said as she came to inch a little closer to him as she stared at him with green eyes for the moment. “I don’t want this- what Hurley did to me. Us to be the end.” She said softly. “I don’t want distance. I want you.” She came to slowly reach out her hands as she took hold of his hands for the moment.
“I want us to be able to help each other.”
--
“I get it, I do. Sometimes it’s just easier to deal with things with somebody who knows exactly how you feel, but I don’t want you to feel like you can’t come to me with anything.” And yeah, it hurt, and he’d accept Lydia’s apology. “I know.” He never thought once that he was the cause of her flinching. He knew who was to blame for that.
“I want to be that for you.” He did or else he wouldn’t be with her. “Then let’s not let it be the end. We can’t let this break us apart.” Even though he had a feeling that’s exactly what this was meant to do. “I’m yours.” He held onto her hand when she took his.
“So, let’s help each other. Let’s get past this and get back what we had.”
*
Lydia came to listen to Mitch closely. Almost as if she was hanging on his every word. With the feel of his hand taking hers when she initiated the touch had caused her to look down at their hands. She didn’t flinch. She didn’t pull away from him. He was hers. Those words echoed in her head as she finally came to look up at Mitch. A nod of her head, when he said for them to help each other heal from this.
“I’m yours also.” She said softly as she came to press her forehead against his for the moment. “You’re my person and I don’t want to be with anyone else but you.” She said as she shifted her hand to have her fingers laced with his for the moment. Green eyes would come to finally look at his dark browns as she let her nose brush against his softly.
That is until Lydia made the first move to heal. And brought her lips to press softly against Mitch’s.
--
A small smile crossed his lips when he heard those words. “We’ll get past this.” As long as they had each other and didn’t let Hurley win at his little torturous games, they could get past all of the hell they’ve been through and so much more.
He kissed her back just as softly. He didn’t really want to push anything. Not now. “Do you want to try laying down?” They didn’t have to do anything. Just lie there. If she got uncomfortable, he could get up and leave.
*
She came to nod her head when he asked the question about laying down. Already her frame came to crawl into the bed as she held her arms open for Mitch, her fingers wiggling slightly as if making grabby hands at him.
“As long as we’re together. We can get past anything.” She said with a slight smile on her lips. She wanted to be better, to get over this. She wasn’t going to do that if she kept pushing him away from her.
---
He smiled at Lydia's wiggling, grabby hands as he climbed onto the bed and then settled down beside her. "We just need to remember that." He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek before placing his arm across her middle and pulling her close.
