Friday night had been intense for everyone in the house. But mainly for Stiles, Lydia, and her dad. The whole process seemed like any other way an Alpha would look at memories. But the intensity in her father's face and the sweat that build up around his face told her differently. Once the whole process was over with, the trio would sleep for over twelve hours. Scott had left to handle some things while Cora and Mitch stayed.
After they had finally woken up, Moira would explain what had happened and why they were at Gideons. After a while, Cora would come to drive home with Stiles in the car. Scott still wasn’t home, which allowed them to be alone. Though, she did feel bad. Since the last time they were alone, they got into a fight. But she couldn’t think about that now. As they walked in, Cora would place the keys on the counter and look to Stiles.
“Do you want dinner? I can make us something quick?” She asked as she came to move to the entrance of the kitchen but stopped and stared at Stiles for an answer.
-- Stiles felt like he could sleep for a week straight with how tired he still felt. Not sleep before and just everything he went through to get rid of the horrible memories pretty much had taken its toll on him. But it was worth it. The memories were gone. It was just an empty space of time that wouldn’t weigh him down anymore. All he wants to do now is get back to normal, especially when it came to Cora.
He walked in right behind Cora, shutting and locking the door once he was all the way in. “Um, yeah, sure,” he replied as he started towards the kitchen. “I could help.”
* Cora still felt a little weird, but that was mainly her own fault. When Stiles came to follow into the kitchen she simply nodded her head. “Alright, what do you want?” She asked as she came to look around the kitchen, not really sure what to do. Already she moved to the pantry to look around, but nothing caught her attention. “I can make us pizza rolls?” She said as she came to stop and look at Stiles.
Her hand came up to brush her recut hair from her face as she came to look around once more. “I think we have soda in the fridge too.” She said as she glanced at the sink and took note of the burnt food from the other night. Already she would turn on the water and soap up the pans to ease the grease off.
-- It still felt weird between them. He could tell Cora was still trying to keep her distance from him. It sucked. But he knew things wouldn't just go back to normal asap. He just hoped this weirdness between them didn't last for too long. "Good question." He had no idea what he felt like eating, so he went straight to the fridge and started to look.
"Yeah, okay," he said as he shut the fridge door. Nothing looked good in there anyway. "There's soda," he told her since she didn't sound so sure if they had any or not. Since he was still near the fridge, he grabbed the pizza rolls out of the freezer and set them down on the counter.
He turned the oven on since Cora was dealing with the dirty dishes.
* When Stiles said they had soda, she nodded her head. “Great.” She said as she washed the pans and finally hand him a pan. “We can use this for the pizza rolls.” She said as she gave him the pan, within that exchange, she felt her fingers brushed against Stiles, which caused her to pull her hand back slightly. “Sorry.” She said, still unsure how he felt.
Slowly she came to turn around and lean against the island in the center of the kitchen as she looked to Stiles putting the rolls in the oven. It was good to have Stiles home, to have those memories gone from him. But that distance was still there and Cora wasn’t sure how to fix it.
--- "Okay." He grabbed the pan, set it down and started to line it with pizza rolls. Cora's fingers touching his hadn't bothered him. The thing that made him keep his distance and not wanting to be touched wasn't there anymore.
Once the oven was hot enough, he shoved the pizza rolls into it and then set the timer. They had ten minutes to waste. Of course, if they kept acting weird, it was going to be a very long ten minutes.
He leaned against the counter, eyes on Cora. "I'm sorry."
* When he came to lean against the counter across from her, all Cora could do was watch him in return. “You don’t have to be sorry, Stiles. You didn’t do anything wrong.” She said as she came to exhale deeply. Her hand once more brushing her hair out her face. “I should be the one saying sorry. I was being… I was acting jealous when I shouldn't have been.” She said as she came to watch Stiles a bit more. She took note of each bruise he still had. But at least those memories were gone.
“I’m just glad my dad was able to help you at least.” Already she would come off the island as she moved towards the cabinets once more. Grabbing two glasses and filling them with ice and the soda she would take from the fridge.
---
"Then why do I feel like that I did do something wrong?" He didn't really think he did anything wrong, but the way Cora had been acting around him. It just made him feel like he did something to make her act that way.
"And I'm sorry that I made you feel that way." He looked down at the floor for a moment before looking up again. "You know I didn't do anything with Lydia, right?"
He watched her but didn't move from his spot near the stove. "Yeah, me too..."
* She came to shake her head. “Stiles... Even if you did do something with her, it was probably something you needed at that moment. To help you heal.” She said as she came to look at Stiles once more. “I’m just… I’ve never done this.” She admitted as she came to exhale.
“You make me feel.. All these different emotions and it’s hard to control them sometimes.” She added as she came to look at Stiles once more. “Then, of course, I didn’t know about you and the nogitsune.. “ She said as she brought her hand through her hair. “I guess, there’s just stuff we still don’t know about each other, so that mixed with these feelings or emotions I feel, I… I just don’t like not being in control. “ Slightly she came to look away from Stiles for the moment.
“I just miss you. “
--- "But I didn't do anything with her. We talked. We left so that she could scream and then we came back and went to sleep. That's it." He really wished Cora and Scott would stop acting like he and Lydia had sex or something because they didn't.
"No one can really control their emotions." When she mentioned the Nogitsune, it was like his inside froze. Who told her? "Did Scott tell you about that?" And what exactly did she know? It kind of bugged him that it was even mentioned. Why was it even mentioned? "We can't always be in control. That's now how life works no matter how much we wish that we can control every little aspect of it."
He sighed. "Then stop acting weird." * “Yeah, he mentioned it. Said it’s how you got possessed because of lack of sleep. He was worried it would happen again. I didn’t know.” She said as she came to push off that island and walk towards Stiles. Standing in front of him this time as she came to look up at him. Already she bites her bottom lip as she let her fingers slowly touch his. “I can do that.” She said softly as she came to press her head against his chest.
When he didn’t pull from her fingers, Cora came to gently wrap her arms around his waist in that gentle embrace. Or at least as gentle as Cora could be when giving a hug.
--- "The lack of sleep was because of the Nogitsune messing with my head. Scott forgot to mention that I ended up possessed because he, Allison and I did something to find our parents." He really didn't want to talk about this, but it looked like he was going to have to since Scott only gave her a tiny glimpse into what happened.
He grabbed a hold of her fingers when she touched his. "I've missed you, too," he said as he put his arms around her and hugged her. It'd been a while, but it felt good to have her close again.
* She would have said more, but once Stiles took hold of her fingers with his as she could do was take in his scent. The feel of his arms around her waist made her tremble slightly. Only to press her hands against his chest lightly as she snuggled her frame into his arms. Once more taking in his scent, since she missed it.
Already she came to look up at him. “I don’t want distance between us anymore. I don’t like how it feels, or makes us act around each other.” She said as she came to look at the timer and soon to him. “Rolls are done, also.” She added as she came to slowly pull away from Stiles.
--- If she didn't want to talk about it anymore, that was fine. But she was the one who brought up the fact that they didn't really know too much about one another. Maybe it was because they were always too busy doing other things instead of actually talking.
"I don't want it either." He didn't like it. He had enough of it. "So, let's back to normal then," he suggested as he slowly started to let her go. "Okay," he said before turning the timer off and grabbing the oven mitts to get the rolls out of the oven.
"Foooooood," he said as he set the tray on the stove. Okay, it wasn't real food, but it was their dinner for tonight. He grabbed a couple of plates and gave them equal amounts of pizza rolls before handing Cora her plate.
* Once the plates were handed, Cora would look to Stiles plate and steal an extra roll from his pile as she smirked and popped it into her mouth. Despite it being hot she still managed to chew and swallow just fine. “What else happened... Back home to you guys?” She figured, if she was going to learn about Stiles, she might as well ask him some questions.
--- "Hey, eat your own!" He moved away with his plate, grabbing his drink on his way out of the kitchen and into the living room where he parked himself on the couch.
"Lydia knows a lot more about what has been going on." Which was true since she was from the future. He wasn't that much further ahead from when Scott was in their lives. "Dread Doctors and Theo came around," he started and told her everything. He held nothing back. Even the whole Donovan thing and the fight between himself and Scott, which was the last straw that made him come to Preya. "That's all I know," he finished.
* Cora came to follow Stiles as she sat on the couch next to him. Only to listen when he started talking. It sounded like Beacon Hills. When she heard about the Donovan thing, she was a bit surprised. But she didn’t say anything about it. “Sounds like a good reason to leave.” She said as she handed him one of her rolls.
“And Theo sounds like a dick.” She added as she came to take her own roll in her mouth finally as she came to look at Stiles once more. That drink is taken in hand as she took a sip. “So that’s why you were hesitant to talk to Scott. Least all of that is behind you guys now.” She added as she came to take another roll in her mouth.
-- "It was a really good reason to leave." Everything had been sucking hardcore before he got the invitation. And it took him a while, but he had gotten past it all until Scott had finally shown up, but that was only because he didn't know what Scott would and would not remember.
"Because he is one. Actually, he's evil. Said so the moment I saw him but did anyone listen to me? Noooooooooooooo. Nobody wants to listen to me until they finally see that I was right all along about something." He took a bite out of a pizza roll and nodded. "Yeah, because I wasn't sure what was going to happen when he showed up here. But he has no idea what was going on since he's from right after Allison dying." Which probably helped them, but it still kind of sucked that Scott had no real idea what was going on. Not yet anyway. "Yeah, too bad he's mad at me now, though."
* “I can talk to him if you want.” She said as she came to bring her hand through his hair for the moment. Before resting her head on his shoulder and eating at those rolls once more. Once that piece was swallowed and gone, Cora would lean up slightly and place a kiss on Stiles' cheek. “I love you.” She said softly in his ear as she came to rest her head back on his shoulder.
Least he was better, that’s what mattered to her. “And by the way, you’re typically right a lot of times.” She said lightly. “Pretty sure I would have believed you if I stayed. But Derek was very clear on getting me out of Beacon Hills.”
--
"I'll talk to him." When that would happen, Stiles didn't know. But he needed to be the one to talk to Scott. Not Cora.
He shoved another pizza roll into his mouth. "I love you too," he said around his mouthful of food.
"I know I am. You think everyone else would have gotten on board already, but they defy me, all of them," he joked. "You probably would have. At least you got away from all of the crazy stuff. You're kinda lucky." He finished off his food and then placed the plate on the coffee table. He didn't feel like getting up and putting it in the sink just yet. "Is there anything else that you want to know?"
* “Not really sure if I did. I remember leaving Beacon Hills and going to the airport, and then showing up here.” She replied as she looked at Stiles. She thought for a moment. “You never talk about your mother. Tell me something about her.” She asked since she knew about his dad, but she had no real clue about Stiles mother. And felt that would be something she wanted to know.
---
"Oh, well, either way, you still got away from the crazy of Beacon Hills." Did it matter if she ended up wherever Derek had sent her or showing in Preya? She still got away before it really started to get crazy.
"Ummm..." That kind of caught him off guard. There was a reason why he didn't really talk about her. "She probably let me get away with far too much when I was little. She always knew how to get me to smile whenever I was feeling bad. I don't know. She was Mom. And then she got sick."
* Cora would listen to Stiles but also take in the tone of his voice and the beating of his heart for that moment. “Sick?” Cora said slightly as she came to look up at Stiles for the moment. Cora took note of the expression on his face as she tilted her head. “You don’t have to talk about her, I can see it’s difficult for you.” She said with a firm nod of her head for the moment. “Christmas is almost here.” She said to change the subject to something a little lighter for them. “My dad invited us all to his place.”
---
“Yeah, she had frontotemporal dementia.” It sucked talking about her, but it also sucked that he hardly ever got to do it. “It’s not easy, but I can’t always talk about her.” If she wanted to know stuff, he’d tell her. But changing the subject was perfectly fine too. “Oh, wow, is it?” he jokingly asked. “I guess this means we’re all going?”
* When Stiles told her what she had suffered from, Cora’s mouth dropped slightly. “Stiles… I’m so sorry.” She said as she came to touch his leg for the moment. She didn’t know, but in a way, she was glad he was telling her. “You can tell me things about her if it’ll help you remember the good things about her.” She said as she touched the side of his face.
“Yeah, we’re all invited.” She informed him as she came to move her hand from his face and into his hair. “He said it’s something him and Scott had planned for weeks, for us to go there and have a tradition like Christmas together. Like we did for Thanksgiving.”
--
“Thanks…” He looked down at her hand because it was easier to look at than the expression on Cora’s face. He did look up again after a moment a tiny smile crossing his lips. “I’ll keep that in mind.” For now, he just wanted to move on before everything got sad again.
“Soooo, basically just like Thanksgiving but for Christmas.” He was a little surprised to hear that Scott was apart of the whole Christmas planning. He figured it was just Cora’s dad like the last time. “I’m sure it’ll be awesome.”
* Cora came to smile and nod her head at Stiles. “Come on. Let’s get some sleep.” She said as she came to a stand and held her hand out for Stiles to take. “Plus, I miss sleeping next to you.” She added with another smile on her features. Once her hand came to take Stiles, she would lead him up to their room.
