Artemis was a bit surprised to see Scott come over last night, but she wasn’t going to turn the true alpha away. Not with the way he looked. So, instead of a night of fun, the two would sit and talk a bit. Watch movies until they each passed out in the bedroom.
But it was Christmas Eve, and Art had woken up earlier than Scott. That coffee pot making a fresh batch as she looked outside to see the snow coming down. Beacon Hills didn’t have anything like that. So she enjoyed it for the time being. That long sleeve flannel shirt hugged her frame since Scott wore the pants. She didn’t mind really. But she would never admit it.
Two cups were taken hold of as she came to pour the coffee into each one. Already hearing Scott wake up. She came to glance to that tree at the small gifts he had brought her. It was still strange to her to get presents. Or even give any. But she told him, she would give it a try.
---
Scott had hung around Gideon’s after he, Lydia and Stiles had passed out after the memory wipe. He watched as Moira got everyone settled in a bed, the stuck by Stiles’ and Lydia’s side alternatively. He was their Alpha and wanted to be certain they were okay. But he left Gideon’s before everyone woke up. He wasn’t ready to face Stiles and Lydia yet. Not after they got pissed at him for him expressing concern about Cora and Mitch’s feelings. He was upset, but he was glad they would be all right.
There was one person he could go to who wouldn’t ask questions he didn’t want to answer. Scott made for Artemis’ apartment where he hid out for the night. He was glad she hadn’t pushed for anything more than hanging out. He wasn’t sure he would be up for their usual physical antics, but the personal touch helped him fall asleep. After so many nights of getting very little sleep, he slept like the dead.
The smell of coffee woke him up and he padded out to find the source of that wonderful smell. Rubbing the back of his hair he saw Artemis standing there. “Hey.”
***
Once Scott came out, all she did was hold that cup of coffee in his direction. “Hey.” Is all she said finally as she took a sip of her own coffee. The warm drink always felt amazing in the mornings. Already, her naturally blue eyes came to look towards the window. “Look.” She said as it would show the visible snow coming down outside.”Beacon Hills never had anything like that.” She noted as she came to take another sip of her coffee. Finally turning to Scott.
“Did you get some rest?” She asked with a lifted brow since he mentioned not sleeping good because of Stiles, Lydia, and Cora. Which was another reason Art didn’t try anything last night? It wouldn’t have been as much fun as the last time. Still, she came to lean against the counter, before jumping up slightly and sitting on that said counter.
“You don’t look like shit anymore.”She said before taking the third sip of her coffee.”...Also, Merry Christmas Eve.” She muttered slightly with that cup against her lips.
---
Scott took the cup of coffee with a grateful smile then took a long sip to help him wake up a bit more. He looked out the window, saw the snow then got a mystified smile on his face as he walked over to get a better look. “Huh. No, we didn’t. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it falling before I got here.” He liked it and could imagine running through it under the full moon.
“Yeah, I did,” he said as he took a final look at the snow then turned back to Artemis. “Thanks.” Scott moved to stand next to where she sat on the counter. “I don’t feel like shit, anymore.” Well, he didn’t feel as much like shit. There was still the fallout from the argument with Stiles and Lydia.
A chuckle escaped him for the greeting. “Merry Christmas Eve.”

When he came to sit next to her she just stared out the window. “I lied.” She said slightly. “About Deucalion. It did bother me a bit.” She said as she came to take another sip of her coffee, before turning to face Scott. “I’m not sure to people checking on me. “She added as she came to look towards that tree. Seeing the few presents lining it as she shook her head.
“I have some presents for you…” She said as she came off the counter and touched his elbow to follow her. Once in the living room, she would come to grab at that long box and hand it to him. “I saw it and thought of you.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders for the moment. Within that box would be a jean jacket with a note saying ‘To keep you warm on cold nightly patrols’ with her name signed.
Still, Art didn’t look at him as she moved towards the window to look at the snow falling down.
--
It didn’t surprise him to hear that she’d been upset about Deucalion. Scott thought she’d been lying, but hadn’t pressed to spare her ego. He had no problems allowing people their illusions since he had some of his own. And the touch to his elbow was distraction enough to let that topic go.
“Oh yeah?” he asked as he followed Artemis to the tree. “I thought you didn’t do presents.” He grinned at her with a knowing glint in his eyes then smiled as he took the box. “Thanks,” he said then opened the box. He pulled out the jacket and the note with a pleased grin. “Hey, this is great! Thanks!”
The gifts he’d gotten her were minor things. Stocking stuffers. Candy and some music and movies. Not anything like this. But she seemed off a bit so he walked over to where she stood. “What’s up?”
***
When she heard him say he liked the gift she nodded her head. But when he came next to her she side eyed him for the moment. “Wondering if I should give you, your second gift or not.” She said as she came to finally look in his direction. Already she brushed her black hair from her face as she gave him a slight smirk. “Come on, sit down.” She said as she motioned him to the couch.
“Close your eyes.” She said as she came to take another sip of her coffee before placing it down. Once his eyes were closed she would move towards the hallway. Just to come back with a medium size box. Already coming to place it on his lap. Once the top was removed he would be greeted by a small black hybrid-wolf pup. Again, Art didn’t say anything as she grabbed her coffee to sip it again.
--
“Second gift?” Scott chuckled. “One was enough.” The protest was weak since he didn’t want to insult her. Taking a drink of the coffee he went to sit on the couch as instructed, only to laugh a little for being told to close his eyes. Yet once again, he did as instructed and shut his eyes with a smirk pulling his lips to the side. For someone who didn’t want anything to do with celebrating Christmas, Artemis had pulled out the stops.
His nose twitched when the box was put on his lap. Something smelled familiar and his eyes opened before he’d been told to. He practically had his gift leap to the floor before he caught it. “Whoa, hey watch it!” Scott laughed as the pup wriggled around to place wet, smelly puppy kisses to his face. “Ok, stop!”
***
So, that scene with Scott and the pup actually had Art smiling. It was hard not to smile. Especially when the true alpha started getting licked all over his face. “I found her out in the woods abandon by her pack.” She told him lightly. “I think because she was the runt of the litter they left her behind. Figured she’d need someone to care for her.” She said as she petted the pup behind the ears before taking her empty cup into the kitchen.
“And that’s all you get from me. So don’t expect there to be a third. Unless you count sex.” She said as she came to arch a brow at Scott through the opening in that kitchen as she watched him interact with that new pack member she gave him.
---
“This is more than enough,” Scott said as he scratched the pup behind her ears. “I’ll make sure she has a good home.” And hopefully, Cora and Stiles wouldn’t mind the new addition. Oh well. If they did, he’d see about getting his own place near Gideon’s.
“There are gifts for you under the tree,” he said as he made a face for getting gnawed on.
***
“I’ll open them tomorrow.” She said as she laughed at Scott being gnawed at by the pup. “I’m sure you’ll take care of her.” She added as she brushed her hair from her face once more. “What are you gonna name her?” She asked since she never named the little thing since it was his gift and not hers.
Still, she did finally come back around and took a seat on the couch next to him. That kiss soon placed on his cheek.
--
Scott shook his head as he continued to dig his fingers of both hands right where the little she-wolf would like it. “I don’t know. Guess I want to see what her personality is like first, but she’s a sweet little thing.”
The kiss caught him off guard and he turned a smile to her. “Thanks. For everything. It meant a lot to me.”
***
“It’s what I’m here for. You get stressed or angry just come here.” She replied with a shrug of her shoulder for the moment. It seemed logical to her. Since she seems to be there for him when he was overly stressed out. “Think of me as your own personal stress reliever.” She said as she came to pet that small she-wolf.
But she soon came to look at Scott. “Plus, it’s Christmas eve so.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders. “So, just means I’ll be extra nice to you. Least while you’re still here. Once you leave I can go back to be all brooding.” She said with a smirk on her lips. Teasing lightly.
---
“You could come with me,” Scott offered. “Gideon is having that dinner starting this afternoon. You’re more than welcome to be there.” He’d have to go home first, see Stiles and Cora...and probably warn Gideon that he was bringing his new four-legged friends.
***
“Want to see more of me now?” She said teasing. “I told you before I would go.” She said with a firm nod of her head. “I’ll take the afternoon to get ready and meet you guys there. How’s that sound?” She said as she came to look at Scott once more. Already pulling his attention away from that small she-wolf as she came to place a kiss on his lips.
“Remember. You still owe me.” She said once she pulled away. Her frame coming to a stand as she took his now cold drink and tossed it in the sink. Blue eyes coming to watch him from the kitchen. “Why not call her, Merry?” She said since he was getting her for Christmas.
“Just a suggestion.” She said with a shrug of her shoulders as she leaned against the counter watching him now.
---
He would say yes, he did want to see more of her, but he knew what she meant with the teasing. It would take some time to bring Artemis into the fold of at least being friends with the pack, but Scott was determined to see it happen.
He was more than content to return her kiss then chuckled when the cub showed a bit of jealousy by pawing at Artemis. “Yeah, I know,” he said as he gave her a smile. “I won’t forget.” And now that things were getting calmer he could think more along those lines.
Scott stood up from the couch with the cub in his arms. “Merry?” He smiled as he tilted his head to look at the pup who tilted her head back. “I like that. Merry.” He ruffled Merry’s ears then looked at Artemis. “I gotta go, but we’ll pick you up on the way to Gideon’s. Ok?”
***
When he agreed to the name, she smirked before he came towards her. “Sounds good.” She Just let me know when you’re coming.” She added as she came to pet that she-pups ears. Just to have her lick Arts hand and playfully gnaw on her fingers. Art just laughed at that point.
“She’ll be good for you.”
---
So are you was what Scott thought but didn’t say out loud. Instead, he just smiled. “I’ll let you know when we’re on our way.” He grabbed up his new jacket then kissed Artemis on the corner of her mouth. Another smile then he made for the door.
