Despite being back home, things weren’t the same. Lydia wasn’t the same and she knew it. She barely slept and barely let Mitch near her. When he would get close to her, Lydia would move away, acting like she was doing something. When she wasn’t doing that, she was changing the apartment around. Constantly. But after finally reaching out to Stiles, and learning he was in the same boat he came up with the best solution. They could both distract each other. Since those around them couldn’t really relate.
Once Lydia knew Mitch was asleep, she would write that simple note. With Stiles. That’s all the note said. And as she locked that apartment door, she exhaled deeply. She hadn’t really left the apartment since coming back, least not on her own. Not until now. Her coat wrapped around her, since it was cold in Preya now, as she moved to climb into her car and make her way towards that house Stiles lived in. Once that car came to a stop, Lydia came to lower her hands off that steering wheel as she exhaled deeply.
Already she came to send Stiles that text. Outside.
--
It wasn't like Lydia's idea was a bad idea, he just didn't want to leave, which was why he got her to come over. Of course, he waited to even mention it until everyone was asleep. Because nobody needed to hear them talk. If they even talked. Stiles wasn't exactly sure how they were going to distract each other, but it just seemed like a good idea to help each other instead of trying to do it alone.
Once he got the text, he made his way down the stairs and opened the front door. He stepped out onto the porch, waving for Lydia to come on.
*
Once Stiles came outside, Lydia would be climbing out the car. Already locking it behind her as she came to walk towards Stiles. He looked like hell, but she was pretty sure she didn’t look any better at this point either. Once she was near him, she would just give him a flatline smile. Instead of her usual hugs. But, it was clear that none of them really wanted to be touched. LEast not by those that cared about them.
“Hey.” Is all she said lightly as she came to bring emerald eyes to stare up at Stiles. Waiting for him to lead the way to their final destination.
--
Stiles watched as Lydia got out of her car and walked towards him. No hugging. No touching. Just a fake half smile before leading her inside, locking the door once they were both in the house. "Come on," he whispered before he started to lead the way up the stairs and to the bedroom.
*
It wasn’t long before she came to follow behind Stiles.Ince inside that house she made sure to stay close and not make any noise. The house was quiet, as Lydia came to look towards Scott’s door. Still nothing was said as she came to follow him upstairs and into his bedroom. Once inside, she would place her bag down and move to take a seat on the edge of the bed.
“Your bed’s bigger than mine…” Is all she said as she noticed it was a large king size mattress.
--
Once they were in the bedroom, he shut the door. He would lock it, but there was no point because if Cora and/or Scott wanted to get in, they'd just break it down without a problem. So, it was left unlocked.
"When you say "bigger than mine" are you talking about your actual bed at home or the one you share with Mitch?" he asked as he sat down, making sure to keep some distances between himself and Lydia.
*
Once Stiles took a seat, Lydia came to move from that spot and come to take a seat at the top of the bed this time. Only thinking about his question for the moment. “Mitch’s bed.” She said with a slight nod. “Not that I’m sleeping there anyway.” She said with a light shrug. Her hand coming to brush her red hair from her face. The visible marks on her neck and cheek coming exposed once they were in better lighting.
Still, Lydia came to look towards Stiles and give that weak smile. “How are things here, now that you’re back…?” She asked as she came to shift her hair to cover her marks from being visible.
---
"You're not sleeping much from what you were telling me. You should stop with the rearranging, though. You might hurt yourself." It was just a suggestion. He wasn't sure if Lydia would actually listen or not.
He saw the marks when she moved her hair. He just stared at them for a moment before looking away. "I don't know. Not the best, I guess. I mean, I pretty much just stay in here. Hiding. Not the best thing to do, but I just don't want to deal with anyone or anything right now."
*
“I didn’t know what else to do…” She said admitting Lydia was lost on what to do with herself lately. “I told Mitch… To bring me sedatives to sleep. He didn’t.” She replied lightly as she looked down to her fingers that were laced together. “I’m trying to do anything I can to not scream.” She said as she came to finally look up towards Stiles. Green eyes lined with water slightly.
“All, I want to do. Is scream.” She said as she came to exhale and look down once more. Letting her red hair shelter her slightly.
--
"Why didn't he give them to you? Or better question, why not just get them yourself then?" If Lydia really wanted them, then why did he need to wait around for somebody else to get them?
"I think we need to find something else for you to do." What that was, he had no idea. But he was bound to come up with something if he thought about it hard enough. "So go outside and scream?"
*
“I think... If I scream, I won’t be able to stop.” She said as she came to move from where she sat and moved to sit next to Stiles. Giving them both space between them for the time being. “This is the first time I’ve left the apartment since he found me.” She admits. On why she hasn’t gotten the sedatives herself yet.
“Stiles… Look at me…” She said as she came to shift on the bed and face him better at this point. Her hands coming to reach into her hair as she used that band around her wrist to tie her hair up. Letting those marks on her cheek and neck become visible to him, while his bruises came visible to her when he turned to face her.
--
"That probably wouldn't be a good thing." He didn't want to know what could happen if she just screamed. Probably something bad. "Oh. Yeah. I really haven't gone anywhere either."
He looked up and over at Lydia again. Her hair was pulled back into a ponytail which showed off the marks again. "Now what?" He was looking at her like she told him to do. But what was the point?
*
Once Stiles turned to look at Lydia she sighed deeply.”I just… I want to see.” She said softly as she came to look at that harden bruise on his cheek and a busted lip of his. Lydia also knew she wanted to scream because of what she was forced to witness. Which was Stiles basically getting beaten daily.
She came to bite her lower lip as she made a flatline expression soon after. “I think… We should learn to fight.” She said as she came to look at his marks on his face and neck. Since those were visible for her to view. “Do you… Have any other marks?” She asked since Lydia remembered watching Stiles but she also remembered going in and out.
---
"It really hasn't changed much." It was getting better, but slowly. Mostly it just looked the same. It was his daily reminder every single time he looked in the mirror no matter how much he didn't want to think about that week.
"Because that would have done anything?" he asked, shaking his head. "You can fight. You were taught some by Parrish. That didn't help you." Not only that, but she's a banshee and she couldn't even use her voice to help them. "Yeah...bruises..." He knew what the next question was going to be, so he didn't even wait for it. He just grabbed the hem of his shirt and lifted it up a bit to show her.
*
Once his shirt was lifted Lydia closed her eyes and looked away. Her head shaking slightly. “Stiles…” Is all she said as she came to look at him finally once his shirt was lowered. They were both fucked up. Inside and out at this moment all because of some asshole with a grudge against Mitch.
She exhaled about maybe five times before she brought her hand out to reach for him. But she stopped. Making sure not to touch him, since they were both in the same mind frame when it came to touching. Instead, she let her hand come down next to him as she rested her pinky on his lightly. “I’m so sorry.”
---
"It looks worse than it feels." And that was only because Scott and Cora had been taking the pain away the first night. That was the last time he let any of them touch him too. He let go of the shirt and it fell back down, no longer showing off the bruising.
His eyes went right to her hand when she started to reach out towards him. He wasn't so sure if he wanted her to touch him, but then she set her down next to his. Pinkies barely touching. That was fine. "Why do you keep saying sorry? You didn't do this. That psycho did. He did it to us."
*
“I know.” Is all she said. Once she saw Stiles didn’t pull his hand away from her pinkie touching his, she just exhaled. Aside from the kiss Mitch gave her and slight hug this was the only contact she had with anyone. “Least they were able to take the pain away.” She said softly as she came to grab her hair tie and pull it.
Red hair coming to hide her marks once more. “... Stiles… We have to get better. “ She said coming to look at him once again. “They need us.” She said about Scott, Cora, and Mitch.
--
It was just a little bit of contact, he ended up hooking his pinkie with hers. It was a little more, still not a lot. "Yeah..." He was lucky that they could do that for him or he'd be in serious pain still.
"And how are we supposed to do that?" he asked looking away for a moment. "Well, actually, there is a way," he said, looking back at Lydia again. "I told Scott to take away the memory earlier..."
*
When he hooked his pinky it caused Lydia to smile lightly. Only to exhale softly. But when he mentioned having Scott take the memory away she just stared at Stiles. “You’re braver than I am.” She admits. Since she doubted she would let Scott near her enough to do it.
Especially since HUrleys form to tormenting Lydia was choking her. So she doubted she wanted anyone touching her neck anytime soon. But when he asked how they would get better all she could do was shrug her shoulders. “That’s what we have to figure out. Together.” She said with another nod of her head as she came to slowly lay back on the mattress and stare up at the ceiling as she pressed her lips tightly together.
Fighting that urge once more.
---
"I just don't want to think about it anymore. It's taken over my life and I hate it." It wasn't that he was braver, he was slowly giving up and couldn't take it anymore. "Scott knows what happened to us. Like, really knows."
While Lydia ended up laying down, he just ended up sitting back up against the headboard. He didn't want to lay down. If he did, he might fall asleep and he didn't want that. "Well, I have no idea except for getting rid of the memories."
*
When she saw Stiles move against the headboard she didn’t say anything. Her frame coming to sit up and sit next to him once more as she rested against that same headboard as he did. “I think… I need more time.” She said about playing with the idea of letting Scott do that. But when he mentioned that Scott would know she just nodded her head.
“Least we have him. And we have each other.” She said as she rested her head back on the headboard. The light stretch of her neck caused her skin to pull and if looked closely those small puncture holes would be made visible. “I miss Mitch. I don’t want this to be the end for us. I can’t let it be.” She said looking at Stiles for the moment.
---
"Okay," was all Stiles said about that. He wasn't going to force her to do it. He just knew he wanted it done. Since it felt like that was the only way to get back to normal again. He wondered if she got what he meant. Oh well, didn't matter.
"Yeah..." He wasn't looking at Lydia anymore especially now since she sat up and was leaning against the headboard like he was. So, he either stared straight ahead, stared at the giant bear or down at his hands. "Then don't let it be." Not like he could say too much since he wasn't exactly trying to keep anyone close to him at the moment.
*
“Easier said than done.” Was all she replied with as she came to glance down at her hands. Watching as her fingers laced with one another nervously. She wanted to put this behind her. But she just wasn’t exactly sure where to begin to even try and get back to normal.
“I think you’re right though…. I need to scream. I can’t keep holding it in. But I have to do it away from everyone.” She said as she finally turned her attention to look at Stiles for the moment. Her pinky still laced around his. It was the only comfort either of them would allow.
---
“Isn't it always easier said than done?” If Lydia didn’t go through with getting her memories taken away, then he’d help her. Someway, somehow.
“Yeah?” he glanced over at her. “So back to Everdale, do it there, or somewhere else where people aren’t around.” Maybe they should do it now. “Let’s go. Right now.”
*
Once Stiles suggested they go off so she could scream. Lydia was quick to come to her feet. “Let's go… I don't know how much longer I can hold this in.”
She told Stiles as she moved to grab her bag as she let emerald eyes look at Stiles once more. She knew it might not be a good idea to go anywhere alone. But even they knew they needed this. “If I can't stop screaming…” she said softly as she looked at Stiles.
“You have to shut me up somehow. I don't care how” she said lightly since Lydia herself had no idea how long she would scream for.
***
Oh. Okay. She liked that idea. Stiles got up, grabbed his jacket, and his keys. Going out alone was probably a bad idea, but he didn’t care right now. Lydia needed to scream and they needed to go somewhere where she could do that. Plus, he was getting tired of looking at the same four walls.
“Okay,” he said with a nod of his head, “I’ll stop you.” How would he do that exactly? He had no idea, but he was pretty sure he would be able to come up with something on the spot if he needed to stop her.
Once they were ready, he led the way back down the stairs, being as quite a possible since he didn’t want Scott or Cora waking up and catching them.
***
Once Stiles was up and ready, Lydia would move close behind him. Walking on her tiptoes so not to wake up those two werewolves. Since it was the last thing that either of them needed right now. Especially with the way Lydia was feeling and struggling. Luckily once outside, she would move towards her car. Or rather towards Mitch car.
Once inside, she would come to place that seatbelt over her frame and once he was all set, she would start the car up and head in the direction of Everdale. “Everdale is the only safe place where I can do this… The last time I needed to scream this badly, Derek took me there before he turned into Mr. Hermit Hale.”
Luckily where Stiles stayed at, it wasn’t so far from Everdale. Maybe an hour drive. Once those woods came into view, Lydia would come to stop and park the car. Eyes looking out to the forest that was covered in snow. Soon she looked back to Stiles. “Ready?” She said softly.
***
Once the front door was locked, he quickly made his way over to the car and got in. Seat belt on and he was pretty much looking out the window during the whole drive. He probably should have left a quick note, just in case somebody got up, but they were kind of in a hurry. Oh well, it would be fine. They'd probably get back before anyone noticed.
"Oh, yeah, Derek is here. I keep forgetting that." Maybe if he made his presence known more often he wouldn't forget. But it felt like certain people from home just wanted nothing to do with them.
"Yeah," he said with a nod of his head as he opened the door and started to get out. "Are we staying right here or we going in there?" he asked as he pointed towards the trees.
***
Once stepping out, Lydia would exhale deeply. Only to look at Stiles and soon towards the trees. “Inside… I know a location that would work.” She said as she came to bite her lower lip. Eyes closing for the moment. Soon opening them again as she looked towards Stiles. “We’ll be in and out. Before anyone notices, we’re gone.” She said reassuring him. Hopefully.
Lydia knew this feeling was different from the last time, and the soon as they took a step inside that forest, that urge to scream was growing stronger. Stopping from time to time as she held her throat and mouth shut. To keep that scream from escaping too early.
It wasn’t long before they came to that waterfall clearing. The same one Derek had taken Lydia to the first time. Once there, Lydia just came to her knees for the moment. Doing her best to control her screams.
“Here.”
***
It was cold. Stiles probably should have grabbed more than a hoodie. He tried to ignore how cold it was as he followed Lydia through the woods. He was glad that she knew where they were going because he did not. "We'll see about that." He wasn't that worried. He was more worried about Lydia and the look on her face. Would she be able to hold out just a little bit longer?
"Niiceee," he said more to himself when they made it to the area with the waterfall. He had no idea this was even here. He looked at Lydia when she dropped her to knees. "Uh, okay." He took a few steps back, trying to give himself some distance from her before she started to scream.
***
She was struggling at this point. But she held as long as possible. Least enough for Stiles to get a good distance away from her. Already she came to take in a deep breath, if even possible before she came to let that scream out her lips.
The intensity that came out her mouth was strong enough to uproot trees from the ground and create a whole new clearing. But as her hands came to press against the ground and fingers dug deep into the snow-covered ground, all Lydia could do was scream more. Louder. Harder if possible.
The only time she did stop was to almost catch a much-needed breath before another scream left her lips, as tears came down her eyes from the intensity of emotions that flowed through those screams, she couldn’t control.
***
Stiles had heard Lydia scream before, but this...this was bad. He had his hands covering his ears as she screamed. It still hurt. It was totally too loud and he honestly hoped that she stopped soon.
Like, he knew she needed to do it. But he also knew that she couldn't keep going on and on. "Lydia!" he shouted at her, but it was probably falling on deaf ears. Okay, so, he needed a way to make her stop. He could throw something at her, but that meant moving his hands away from his ears. Better not. He finally just walked over and started to kick the bottom of her shoe. "You should stop!"
***
This is what Lydia was afraid of. Starting a scream like this and not being able to stop it. Even with Stiles kicking at her shoes, all Lydia could do was scream louder. Her own hands coming to cover her ears at this point. Her eyes came to close as tightly as possible as she came to force her mouth shout. Her head shaking violently. As her hands came from her ears she used them to cover her mouth.
That visible blood staining her ears as she looked at Stiles shaking her head. Despite him not wanting to be touched, her hand came to his chest as she pushed him away from her. Tears still came down her cheeks as she left that high pitch muffled scream push through her pressed fingers as she tried to keep herself from screaming.
But the more she tried fighting it, the louder and more violent her screams would become. “STILES!” Was all Lydia was able to scream out as another scream would escape her lips.
***
That didn't work. That didn't work at all. All Lydia did was go back to screaming. This was what she was afraid of. And now it was happening and Stiles wasn't sure how to stop her.
Okay, so, kicking her didn't work. The next thing to try would be to throw something at her. He didn't see anything. Well, a rock, but he wasn't throwing a rock at Lydia. So, he did the next best thing. A giant-sized snowball. That should hurt a bit and make her stop. "Sorry, Lydia..." He took aim and threw it right at the back of her head.
***
At this point, Lydia would take a rock hitting her. But when she felt that large snowball come and hit her in the back of the head, it caused her to stumble forward. With her face planting into the snow, it at least caused her to stop screaming. Already she came to sit up and quickly wipe her face off of the cold snow. “Stiles!” Is all she said as she stopped.
“I’m.. not screaming…” She said as she looked at Stiles. A look of relief coming over her features. Slowly she came to a stand, as she stumbled a bit into the nearest tree. “...Let’s go home..” She said in a weak voice.
***
"Oh thank god that worked." He wasn't sorry at all that he did it. It got Lydia to stop screaming. Although, he hadn't meant for it to knock her over into the snow. Oh well. It got the job done. "No, you're not," he said as he watched her. "Feel better now?" he asked. "Okay, let's." He didn't need to be told twice. He was ready to get the hell out of there. "Need help?" He asked since he saw her stumble a bit.
***
“Can you drive, please.” She said as she came to push off the tree and look towards Stiles. Home sounded amazing right now. And as they walked out that forest and the car came into view all Lydia could do was exhale once more. “Do you want me to stay the night with you?” She asked as she came to slide into the passenger side of the car. While waiting for Stiles to get in the driver side.
***
"I can drive. Give me the keys," he said as he held his hand out for the keys.
Once they were in the car, he got in and started it up. "Do you want to stay?" He kind of thought she might want to go back to Mitch, but it didn't sound like it. "Maybe we can actually get some sleep if we're near each other." It was worth a try, right?
***
She came to nod her head. “Worth a try.” She said softly as she came to look out the window as they drove out of Everdale. “At least. I don’t want to scream.” She said as she looked over at Stiles. “I’m sorry, for shoving you.” She said softly since she knew he didn’t want to be touched. She just didn’t want to hurt him.
***
"Glad to hear that." Stiles drove. He looked over at Lydia once in a while. "It's okay..." She had just been trying to get him to get away from her. So, it was understandable. At least he got to knock her over with a snowball. He might actually laugh about it...someday.
An hour later and they were back at the house. He parked the car in the driveway and turned it off. "Home sweet home." He looked at Lydia and gave her the tiniest smile before getting out and heading to the front door.
***
With that drive back to the house, Lydia kept her gaze outside. But once they arrived back to his house she would give a tiny smirk at his comment. Once the car was shut off she would step out the car and follow close behind Stiles. “Least no one noticed us gone.” She said with a nod of her head. The last thing she wanted was them knowing they had left. “Let’s go back to your bed. I like it.” She said added as she looked up the stairs.
***
"As far as we know." It did seem like they got away with it, though. He unlocked the door and then went in. He shut the door and locked it once Lydia was inside. "Okay." He once again led the way up the stairs.
Inside the bedroom again, he took off his jacket and tossed it, not really caring too much where it ended up. He kicked off his shoes next and then sat down on the bed. "Are we going to attempt to sleep or do we want to do something else?"
***
Once inside the bedroom, her jacket would come off as well. Followed by her shoes. “I think we should attempt to sleep. If we can’t, then we’ll watch a movie or something.” She said as she gave him a faint smile. Already she came to crawl up the bed towards the pillows as she came to hold her hand out to Stiles.
“You know I’d never hurt you.” She said assuring him, it was okay to take her hand if he wanted.
***
"Alright." he had a feeling they weren't going to sleep. They both said it themselves that they were hardly sleeping. Why would this be any different?
He watched Lydia for a moment before he laid down on his side, facing her. He glanced down at her, hesitant to take it at first, but he ended up grabbing it. "I know you wouldn't." That was never in question. He knew she wouldn't hurt him. He knew Scott and Cora wouldn't either, but he still didn't really want them to touch him. "Should I turn the light off or leave it on?"
***
Once settled she would shake her head at Stiles question. “Off. We can try off,” she said lightly. Once those lights were off and Stiles came to take her hand she would lay down on the mattress. Green eyes coming to stare at him as she took note of his bruises.
Nothing was really said about them. But as the minutes passed and Lydia inched closer she felt her eyelids grow heavy. Slowly she came to finally drift to sleep.
It wasn't certain if it was due to her screaming as loud as she did or because she was with Stiles. Who knew how she felt but one thing was certain. She had somehow managed to finally fall asleep after days or not sleeping.
***
Stiles reached over and turned the light off. After that, he got comfortable on the bed. Would he actually fall asleep? He wasn’t so sure about that. But it was kinda nice having Lydia right there next to him.
He didn’t know how long he just laid there, looking at Lydia, but at some point, he finally fell asleep.
