It was okay, really. Making a home was hard. Clint knew that with absolute certainty. But he was more than willing to share his own with Kate, and any family that he accidentally made or adopted on the way. That was what best bros were for, after all.
It was probably good though, that she turned away to look in the window of one of the shops when she did, because it meant that Clint could look more than a little sheepish and guilty over her dismissal of either proposition or jewelry. She was probably right of course, but that didn't mean Clint hadn't entertained the idea. He tended to move fast and apparently had not at all learned his lesson, even after all the ups and downs that had come with Bobbi.
"Er, yeah," he agreed, stepping up to the window as well, squinting a bit at what passed for fashion these days. "So, what? It'll be lame no matter what? We hafta go with the Its The Thought That Matters attitude?"
