This Queen was different. Of course, Jefferson had been in Preya a long time, and he was well aware that people who looked the same were often not the same as well as people from alternate realities tended to show up as well. Yet, it was the first that someone he knew so intimately had shown up in any form. He supposed that made sense. He dealt with magic users for the most part, and if they had problems, they usually opted to find their own way of dealing with things rather than running off to some random other world.
Yet, she was the same. Jefferson knew little of hearts, but knew how that worked well enough. He was lucky, that it was only his hat the evil queen had stolen before, and never his heart. The Queen of Hearts might have wanted it if she had not thought that he might need it to make his hat work. It didn't work that way, but he'd been okay with her believing whatever she'd wanted.
That felt like a lifetime ago.
He'd watched her long enough, though. She hardly seemed something to be worry about, but he wouldn't be deterred. He was deathly curious, and curiosity did kill the cat, but people had tried to kill him before. It never did quite work, did it?
Standing from his spot on the bench outside, Jefferson adjusted his jacket, moving across the street to let himself into the bakery, a hand lifting to his throat, just to make sure the scarf he wore covered his throat. It was better that way. People asked questions when they saw. He hardly enjoyed the strange concerned awe on their faces. Annoying. Not what he was supposed to be focusing on. He stepped over to the counter, eyeing around before leaning over the edge a bit, his blue eyes looking, calling with a strange lilt to his voice. "Hello? Your hiiiighness?"
