With a look of joy Jesse listened as she spoke, and set his glass aside as well to offer her his full attention. At last, with a soft smile Tuck found himself speaking the words that sprang to mind. "Song of the Open Road, by Walt Whitman; 'Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road, Healthy, free, the world before me, The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose. Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune, Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing, Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms, Strong and content I travel the open road.'" For a brief moment the man paused and that smile of his grew as Jesse's gaze brighten while thoughts of his travels flashed through his mind.
"'The earth, that is sufficient, I do not want the constellations any nearer, I know they are very well where they are, I know they suffice for those who belong to them. Still here I carry my old delicious burdens, I carry them, men and women, I carry them with me wherever I go, I swear it is impossible for me to get rid of them, I am fill’d with them, and I will fill them in return.' Making a mark on the world is a noble goal, Selene...but in truth I've enjoyed simply exploring and observing the splendors that the world has to offer."
At her suggestion to read the network the 'young' man nodded, and made a mental note of it. Oh that list of supernatural beings certainly had his brow raising, but Jesse did not doubt her word at all. That touch of sadness in her smile and eyes caused his own to fade just a little. Honestly Tuck loved going with the flow of things; he had been that way for as long as he could remember. Not stuck by the stream like a rock, nor actively swimming with the current. For him the beauty was found in watching the world unfold around him; like witnessing the flowers of a garden bloom on the stem.
With the change of subject his gaze drifted from her to look around at last; and a warm chuckle was heard as Jesse found himself nodding. "I reckon I hadn't really noticed much else beyond you, but now that you mention it this place does seem quite interesting. Can't smell any brimstone though, so I'll take your word for it."
