"Socratic scrutiny; 'The unexamined life is not worth living.' Written by Plato around 300 BC. Do we ghost through the years, or do we leave a lasting impression on them? Are our long lives a blessing, or a cosmic joke? I may occasionally despair for the future of the human race; that doesn't mean I shouldn't do what I can for it, does it? This is a brave new world for those of us who intend to stay here. I would just as soon put my own stamp on it."
"Read the local open network when you have the time. Werewolves - which have been a part of my world for longer than I have been alive - vampires, a bean-sidhe, witches and wizards, angels and demons, ordinary humans, all in open communication." She finished her wine and set the glass down on the table. "Communication, I think, is the first step to building understanding. Maybe a new experience for all of us."
Selene nodded her understanding, but there was a touch of sadness to her smile. "I understand only too well the temptation our sort has to let things wait until tomorrow. The world moves at a different pace than ours, though. We can swim with the current or spend our days washed up along the shore somewhere, watching what flows by."
Again she changed the subject. "This is certainly an... interesting club. My sense of smell is much better than human, better than the best bloodhound that has ever been. So much has been going on here, laced with that subtle trace of brimstone. But, what can you expect when the place is run by the Devil himself?"
