They had called his family so many things; witches, monsters, and devil worshipers too. The claims that the Tuck family had sold their souls even feel from his sister in laws lips, just before she took Jesse's niece and nephew away forever...a sad moment that still haunted his brother to this day. The irony of the fact that Jesse was currently dining in the club owned by the devil himself wasn't lost on him at all, but Tuck decided he'd keep that to himself. When her smile faded his own did as well, though instead of a colder expression only a hint of sorrow was seen in his eyes. "I know it's not much, but I think what your doing...trying to keep others safe even after losing so much, it's admirable Selene. Most folks would've just withdrawn from the world, instead of trying to make it a little better."
The matter of being accepted by the world was a matter of contention among his own family. Jesse moved through life spending that time among humanity with ease; seeking out the good and fascinating things that waited around the next bend. His parents hid themselves away from the world though, always fearing what would happen...and Miles, Miles fought in any war or battle he could. Always hoping that one day he'd finally fall in combat and be reunited with the children and wife who had perished so long ago. "Can't say I'm familiar with the wolf you're talking about, but I understand that desire to be accepted. Think it can and does happen to some extent, but it ain't something that really lasts long on account of the fact that those we do find it from...well they always fade away to nothing but a memory for our kind."
The change of the subject was met with a soft smile, and Jesse chuckled warmly when she spoke up once more. "Reckon I've got enough saved up for another ten lifetimes or so, but I still took a job at the bookstore here. It's part time and all that, yet I like working. Gives me a chance to be around others, and being surrounded by books is a real treat too. I still remember when it was a rarity just to possess even one or two of em." The offer to join the PD was surprising, but after considering it for a moment Jesse's smile grew. "I've work all manner of jobs over the years, but I've never been a cop before. If you think I'd be a good fit I can give it a shot."
