Will cannot translate the expression but warms to Cassian's patient answers. He is never certain what to expect from adults. Questions were seldom a welcome thing in Hawkins nor did he have many opportunities to be curious about people's (boring) lives. Certainly no townsfolk had been as fascinating as the man before him. Imagine thinking spaceships commonplace!
"They only exist in movies and books where I come from. I think the government is trying to build spaceships but it's not going to happen for a while." There is palpable disappointment in his voice. "We have cars. They stay on the ground and definitely can't move very fast. Not faster than light, anyway. And we have lots of rules about speed, especially where I live. Lived."
His eyes flicker away with embarrassment at the mistake. Much as Preya has been the comforting distraction he was hoping for, a part of him still resides in Hawkins snugly enclosed in the hearts of his loved ones. Will firmly reminds himself he consented to a lifetime in this otherworldly place. Then he meets Cassian's eyes once more with mild yet cheerful interest.
