No new arrival escaped notice. Even at a distance and awkward angle (for he was painfully short to begin with and the low seats were no help) Will scanned each for qualities that intrigued his artistic sensibilities. The woman in the mobcap was certainly an enticing specimen. A pang of regret resounded in his chest at not possessing the colors to do her justice. His gaze roved over the depleted number of riders for another point to fixate on.
Despite Cassian's relatively sedate appeal the fact he placed himself so close to Will attracted the boy's attention immediately. A modest man, perhaps, but nonetheless worthy of study. Will had taken to practicing shading bodies recently and the stark shadows and stubble across the man's jaw were excellent for that purpose. The notebook was turned to a fresh page. Before he could begin drawing it startled him to catch the stranger's eye. Most people were either too intent on their own business or avoiding his surreptitious staring. Will looked a little like a rabbit in headlights at being spoken to so bluntly.
"Nothing!" He hurried to assure the other, soft voice almost lost in the vacuous space between them. As if to bolster his claim Will quickly looked down at his makeshift sketchbook. But it was only moments before he was peering up through his eyelashes again. That was a good face--- he appreciated the planes and crinkles when the man smiled. His mouth worked slightly with aborted attempts to ask permission to draw the man before he succeeded in pushing the words out. "Is it okay if I draw you?"
