Lydia told Mitch that Stiles was taking her home, and even though that was the truth. She wouldn’t arrive back to that apartment until two hours later. Mainly because Stiles hadn’t checked the car and it ran out of gas. Meaning the two of them had to hike to a gas station and get gas by hand and hike back to the car. By the time Lydia walked into the apartment, she was sore and tired. Her hair was a mess of the sweat and it didn’t help that Lydia was wearing Stiles shirt since hers got dirty with gas.
“I’m home.” She called out as she came to remove her shoes and toss them to the side. Those keys tossed on the counter. Lydia was aware of what was going on, but she wasn’t going to let Hurley stop her from doing her daily activities either now. On the side of Lydia's neck would be a slight bruise she’d gotten from her self-defense class. But the way it looked it was easily confused for a hickey. But Lydia didn’t think anything of it since she knew what it was.
“Mitchy..?” She called out again as she came to walk deeper in the apartment.
***
Mitch knew exactly what Hurley was trying to do. It was all a game. One that was supposed to fuck with his mind. And he knew no matter how much he wished that Hurley would stop, it wasn't going to stop. He was going to make everything crash and burn and it fucking sucked.
He hated it even more when Hurley made sure to show him that he had eyes on Lydia. That bothered him. A lot. He had to quit looking at his phone and he did after he told Lydia to get somebody to pick her up because she was being watched.
He was trying to get the things Hurley said out of his head. But the longer it took for her Lydia to come home, the more those words kept repeating into his head. By the time Lydia walked through the front door, he was sitting in the bedroom, just staring at the door. He didn't reply when she called out to him. He didn't move. Just waited for her to walk into the bedroom because she was bound to do that in a moment or two.
**
When he didn’t answer her that was the first sign that something was wrong. As she came up to the bedroom door she would push it open, just to see him sitting there. “Didn’t you hear me calling you?” She asked as she brushed her red hair from her face. Only to get a better look at him. “Mitch. What is it?” She asked as she came to stop not far from him. Already coming to her knees as she looked at his face.
“Hey, talk to me.” She said as she rubbed his knees and came to bring his face to look at hers. She had told Stiles to hurry up, but a car with no gas can’t really go far. “I know it took me longer to come home. The car ran out of gas if you could believe it.” She replied with a slight smile on her face. But still, he wasn’t saying much and he was acting off. Which worried her.
“Mitch… What exactly did Hurley show you?”
***
"I heard you," was all he said. He really didn't feel like talking. Mostly he just stared at Lydia as she walked further into the room and then down in front of him.
He was going to point out how long it took her to get home, but it was like she had read his mind and explaining what had happened. That didn't explain why she was wearing, what he assumed, was Stiles' plaid shirt. "What's with the shirt?" he asked.
If she wanted to know, she could look herself. He grabbed the phone and handed it to her.
***
Just the way he answered her had her pulling away from him slightly. “Don’t do that.” Is all she said as she came to a stand with the phone in her hand. When he asked about the shirt she looked at it and then to Mitch once more. “It’s Stiles shirt. Mine got splashed with the stupid gas when we tried to pour it into the gas tank.” She replied as she came to look at him.
Already she came to look at his phone as she slowly stopped pacing and looked at the pictures. But the last two is what caught her off. “You know those last two pictures are old. Right?” She said coming to look at Mitch for the moment. “Mitch.” She said calling his name.
“Mitchell!” She said screaming at him at this point. “ Do you really think, I would do something with Stiles?” She asked as she tossed the phone back onto the bed near him.
***
"Don't do what?" He wasn't doing anything. "I see." He was starting to wonder if maybe Lydia should have just not come back here. At least not tonight. Not with how messed up he was feeling right now.
He was kind of just staring off into space. He really wasn't paying attention to what Lydia was saying anymore. Her voice sounded as if she were far away even though she was right there in the same room with him.
He looked up and snapped out of it when she yelled at him. "I would hope not."
***
Lydia came to stare at Mitch. And his answer didn’t make her feel any better either. “You hope not… “ She repeated as she came to nod her head. “Your answer should have been you know I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t do that to you.” She said as she came to exhale deeply. Only to keep repeating to herself that this was Hurley’s fault.
Slowly she came to move back to where Mitch was sitting as she came to kneels between his legs again as she brought his face to look down at hers. But he looked like he was just staring out into space. With a deep sigh, she came to press her forehead against his. She felt like she was losing him, over those stupid pictures.
“I guess it’s true, I'm not good at a one night stand… But I still need love. I don’t want you to leave, will you hold my hand… Oh, won’t you stay with me, cause … You’re all I need. ” She wasn’t sure why that song came to her head as she sang the first verse to Mitch for the moment. Only to bring his features to look at her.
“Stay with me… Please.” She said as she came to caress his face with her thumb.

It wasn't even just the pictures. It was the things that Hurley had been saying right along with the pictures. He could only block it all out for so long and the more Hurley pushed the issue the more it broke through the wall that the had put up since he knew this shit was going to happen.
He looked at her when she made him. He hated this. The way things were going now. Things had been going far too well before Hurley showed up. And now he was starting to wonder why he ever thought that maybe just made for once he could but all the bad shit in his life behind him and start over with Lydia.
"He's winning...and it's only been one day."
***
“He’s not winning.” She replied as she brought him to focus on her. “You’re just not using your pieces correctly.” She replied as she came to smile up at him. “You keep thinking that you have to go through this all on your own. Like if you’re alone.” She replied as she came to look at him and exhale as she kept that smile. “But you’re not alone.”
She replied as she came to sit next to him. “Do you know why Scott invites you to all our get-togethers? Aside from the obvious reason being me. But he thinks of you as part of the pack now. If we were to split up, he would still think of you as part of the pack.” She replied as she brought him to look at her. “You’re not alone. “ She said as she came to place a kiss on his lips.
The kiss wasn’t meant to last long, so she came to pull away after a few seconds. Licking her lips she came to watch him. “We’ve both fought wars before from back home. We both know it can’t be done alone. And I’m not letting you do this alone.” She said holding his hand tightly as she touched the side of his face. “Face it, you’re stuck with me.”
***
He knew he wasn't alone. Because if he had been then Hurley would have nobody to use against them and none of this hell would be happening. Still, he didn't say anything. Not at first. He let Lydia talk.
"I know... I know I'm not alone. That's the problem. All of you are going to get dragged down with me. None of you deserve it." And he hated it. It was why he tried to get Hurley to just take him the moment he showed up. Anything to spare them all from the torment that was coming.
He closed his eyes when she kissed him. Only opening them again and looking at her when she pulled away. "I guess I am stuck with you," he said with a slight smile as he grabbed a hold of her hand. "And...I'm sorry. For acting the way that I was acting when you came in here."
***
“One thing you should know when pushed. We tend to push back. Harder. Hurley maybe CIA, but we’re supernaturals.” She informed him. And when he gave her a kiss back she smiled lightly at him once more. Feeling like she could breathe again. When he said he was sorry she came to nod her head. “You have to talk to me. If you keep doubts inside that’s how he’s going to win.” She told him as she brought her hands to play with his hair.
“And you need to stop worrying so much about us. We can handle ourselves. We’ve faced worse people than Hurley. Trust me.” She replied as she came to assure him as she touched his knee for the moment.
“Now.. As for Stiles.” She said watching him for the moment. “Yes, I love Stiles. I’m always going to love Stiles, we have history and we’ve been through things together. He’s my best friend. Nothing more. Well, besides a pain in the ass but that’s natural.” She replied as she came to stare at him for the moment.
“But you, Mitch Rapp, are the man I’ve fallen for.”
***
"I know. I know. Everything that you're telling me, I know. I just...I let him get into my head for a moment." And he needed to never let that happen again. Not unless he wanted to let Hurley win this little war of his.
"I'll try not to worry, but I can't completely promise that I won't." Especially when it came to Lydia.
"I believe you. I never really thought that you would... I let him fuck with my head. That's all." Next time he was just going to ignore all of the messages. Because he knew there would be more at some point.
He leaned in and kissed her. "And I'm falling for you."
***
When he said that, Lydia smiled. Only to come and rest her head on his shoulders. “Well, since we both admit we’re falling for each other. You should also know. I’m extremely stubborn.”She said as she came to look up at him with a smile. “And we’re not going to let him win.” She assured him as she placed another kiss on his lips.
This time, she wouldn’t pull away as they both needed this kiss to get lost into. To get lost in each other and forget about Hurley and his war. Least for tonight.
