"I'm glad you did," Tyler said softly. Though he'd learned later that she didn't survive long after her transition. The Salvator brothers had decided that she needed to die. Maybe there was a good reason for that, but they'd also decided his Uncle Mason had to die so he didn't entirely trust their judgement. "A lot happened. It's a long story, but the short version is: I was a werewolf for a while, and now I'm a hybrid."
He bit his lip when Vicki asked if he wanted to get back together. "No, that's not what I meant," Tyler said. He couldn't say that the thought hadn't crossed his mind. But he was half convinced he'd just fall back into bad habits, like using Vicki for an easy lay and really sticking it to Caroline. He hadn't wanted to tell Vicki so soon after seeing her again.
"Actually, I just came out of a break-up that I did not see coming, and if we did get back together, I wouldn't want you to just become my rebound girl. I was hoping we could be friends. We weren't last time, and I think that was a mistake."
