Tyler had never entirely gotten over what happened to Vicki. A lot of people in Mystic Falls had died since, but he could still remember how he felt when Vicki's body had turned up, buried in a shallow grave outside of Mystic Falls.
He had liked her. He'd liked her enough to invite her to one of his parents' parties, and if he tried to avoid introducing her to his parents, well, who could blame him? When his dad had been alive, neither of them had approved of anything Tyler did, and they definitely wouldn't have approved of someone like Vicki. But he didn't need to respect her to like her, and he'd been pissed when she's cheated on him with Jeremy. He'd been angry all the time back then, a side effect of his werewolf heritage, and he hasn't known how to control his anger. He'd taken a lot of it out on Vicki.
And then she died. And he always felt like he didn't deserve to miss her.
He could have ran to the diner. It probably would have been quicker, especially since he lived so close. Instead, he drove his truck, and parked it out front.
He hesitated a moment when he saw her, not quite sure what he could say. Then he finished the walk to her booth. "Hey, Vicki. It's good to see you."
