Who: Rose Tyler, The Doctor (Metacrisis) What: A reunion of sorts Where: Rosewood Park, Summerbridge When: Late morning, June 29 Warnings: TBD Status:On-going Incomplete
It hadn't taken Rose long to get settled in Preya. After all, this wasn't the first time she had ever had to start a life from scratch, though this was the first time that it had been a deliberate choice on her part. It was a fresh start: new flat, new job, new clothes. She'd boxed up all the trappings of her last life (clothes, guns, dimension cannon) and shoved them into a safe that she'd bought with her first paycheck. It wasn't that she regretted her choice, but those reminders always brought a stab of guilt at shirking her duty and the question of if she had done right by that other world. She was starting to understand why the Doctor kept running and never looked back.
She hadn't ranged outside of Summerbridge much since her arrival: the occasional visit to the market in Everdale and a few singing gigs in the clubs of Brightford. She doubted that she would be visiting Ravenmoore any time soon; it sounded too much like London, and the thought of the city that it was (and might be again) still stung. But she was Rose Tyler and it didn't take long for her feet to get itchy, so she decided to use her day off from the shelter to explore the large park that was within walking distance of her new flat.
Any misgivings she might have had to stay were always washed away as soon as she stepped outside. Everything was so much lighter and brighter and better here. No labour camps, no rationing, no worrying about radiation when the winds were blowing just so. She had felt the jagged edges of herself start to knit together as soon as she had arrived and weeks in was finally finally feeling comfortable in her own skin again, not needing to watch every little word and action in case she managed to damage the fabric of space-time irreparably.
Rose couldn't help but smile when she read the park's name on the sign and she entered the gates with a bounce in her step that had been absent for too long. She wandered for a while, getting the lay of the land and enjoying the sight of families taking advantage of the nice weather. As the sun rose in the sky, she decided to find a quiet spot to read, eventually settling herself at the base of a large shady tree by the lake. Dressed in a simple t-shirt and jeans, a book open in her lap, she looked every inch the picture of relaxation.
