He'd been too. It'd been an absolute mess that he hadn't handled very well. The first thing he'd introduced himself with to the community of Preya on a whole was a barrage of very colorful language.
"You don't need anything fancy," he griped, "just any brush at all would do, you know." It was easy to fall back into this role - the picky older sibling who was more concerned about personal hygiene than personal feelings. Almost like it hadn't been years. Almost.
Except for the fact that, yeah, he was taking those hugs more willingly than he'd ever before.
"There's no underground," he agreed slowly once they'd finally untangled and he was able to take a step back, make a bit of a show about straightening his clothes -- ones that were certainly not the standard uniform that he'd gotten so used to in Paradis, even if he had hastily pulled on the emblemed jacket with Survey Corps' insignia on it. "I live in an apartment not too far from here. It's got windows and everything." Big ones, actually. Levi had liked that, the stupid little window seat where he drank tea and stared at nothing in particular for hours on end in the middle of the night. "I'll take you there, if you promise not to fuck it all up with dirt."
The mention of Erwin, particularly as the butt of a joke didn't sit even remotely well with Levi, but there was no possible way to get into that without -- well. Difficulty. Levi only frowned and turned his attention to the cat that was circling the both of their ankles. "You can't keep it."
