Working at a bar had its perks, but it did mean that often he ended up missing a lot of the night life in the rest of Ravenmoore. It reminded Harry in some ways of New York, so he was eager to take a chance to explore sometime. By lucky chance, in exchange for working the long shift on Halloween night, he had gotten this Friday night off of work for once. He'd thought to take advantage of the freedom and just go for a walk around the main drag and see what he could find. He just hadn't accounted on finding this.
He'd stopped cold on the sidewalk when he caught sight of the thing creeping through the parking lot across the street, sweat starting to trickle down his neck. Objectively, he knew that not all of the other residents were human, but knowledge alone just wasn't comparable to seeing an actual fucking monster in person, just out on the street. This did not at all look like one of the nonhumans he'd seen and spoken to before on the network. Most of them appeared fairly normal, but this barely even resembled a human. It was facing away from him, at least. Harry didn't dare move, nor hardly even breathe. What if it heard him? What if it saw him?
It was only when the creature snarled and leaped forward that Harry realized that the creature was paying no attention to him because it was already focused on someone else. "Oh fuck!" he gasped, already bolting across the street.
