Stiles knew sooner or later that Scott would show up. The only question would be when exactly Scott would be coming from when he did show up. Part of him wanted Scott to be from around the same time since it would just make things easier to fix. But Scott was from right after Allison’s death, which meant his best friend had no real idea what had happened between them. It didn’t matter, though. Stiles needed to see Scott and they needed to talk or he was forever going to feel badly about everything that went down before he arrived in Preya. He would have gone right after he spoke to Scott over the network, but he had work. So, the minute his shift was over, he was out the door and making his way to Scott’s. He wouldn’t even go home first to change out of his uniform. It wasn’t long before he was standing at the door of the address that Scott had given him. He was nervous. He closed his eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath. He exhaled loudly as he opened his eyes and then knocked on the door. It was now or never. * Scott had been pacing as he waited for Stiles. Meeting up with Allison had gone a long way to healing some of the hurts that had brought him to Preya to begin with. They had agreed to remain friends and see where it went from there. He was a little disappointed, but satisfied with that. She was alive. That was what mattered. So lost in those thoughts the knock came to the door before he realized how much time had passed. Scott cleared his throat as he rubbed his hands on his thighs in a nervous gesture then went to open the door. The sight of Stiles was almost as rocking as seeing Allison, except for a different reasons. His best friend was distant and not smiling. Scott offered a hesitant one as he held the door open in invitation.. “Hey. C’mon in.” * "Hey," Stiles greeted back and then walked inside. It felt weird having Scott right there. Stiles had been in Preya for almost six months without seeing Scott and now here he was. And he really didn't know where to start. It was like his mind was going five hundred miles a minute and blanking all at the same time. This sucked. "I actually don't know what to say right now. This is just...weird. Like, I knew you had to show up at some point, everyone else has...I just didn't think it would be from a point where you would have no idea what I'm talking about." * Scott actually had something of an answer for that having thought about this for a while. Allison’s reassurance that Stiles would forgive him helped. It got Scott’s mind off of panic and into getting things settled with his best friend mode. “Look,” he started as he shut the door then turned to face Stiles. “Lydia filled me in some on what happened and I don’t blame you for being mad.” Even if she assured Scott that Theo had fooled all of them. “Scream, shout. Hell, hit me if you want. I just want you back.” It had been bad enough watching Stiles get lost to the Nogitsune. It would really suck to lose Stiles for something he did in the future. * "Did she?" Stiles had no idea who filled Scott in and who didn't and what exactly was said. He only knew what he told Scott over the network and that wasn't very much since it was much too hard to go into detail over such a thing. "I don't want to hit you. Or yell." Because, seriously, what would be the point? He already did that before he left Preya. And that had changed or fixed nothing. "I'm just hurt that you didn't believe me and that you walked away. I never thought that my own best friend would do that to me. I thought I had gotten past it, but then you popped up and all of those feelings came back. I don't want to feel like this anymore." * Scott nodded as he crossed his arms so tightly he was almost hugging himself. It was probably the most uncertain he’s ever seemed, and only Stiles could manage it. Stiles had been with Scott every step of the way since the night Scott was bitten. “I get that,” he said quietly. “And I’m sorry.” Even if he hadn’t done anything yet. “I don’t know why I did that. I can’t even imagine myself ever not believing you.” Scott kind of faded off, not sure what else to say. * “Because you believed Theo.” That was pretty much it, wasn’t it? That had been the whole problem from the start. Even though Stiles had warned Scott and the others. They thought he was worrying far too much. But he hadn’t been. “You did, though,” he said as he slowly looked away, trying to hide the hurt that was probably showing in his eyes as all of this was brought up again. “I just want to move on from this.” * Scott had seen Stiles look like that exactly once, and not that long ago when they’d stayed at that stupid haunted motel. With that moment in mind, Scott stepped up to Stiles then put his hand on his friend’s shoulder. “You’re my best friend. Okay? And I need you, Stiles. You’re my brother.” Not quite word for word what Stiles said to him to talk him out of setting himself on fire, but close enough. * Stiles looked up and at Scott when his friend placed his hands on his shoulders. This seemed all too familiar. And even more so when Scott started to speak. A small smile crossed his lips. "Stealing my lines now, are you?" He didn't care. He knew Scott meant well and all Stiles really wanted was for them to go back to the way things were before Theo messed everything up. He grabbed Scott and pulled him into a hug and pretty much just didn't want to let go. * Scott felt like a huge weight fell off his shoulders and that his heart was going to blow up inside his chest. As with Allison, he had to remind himself to not hug as hard as he wanted to. You don’t break your best friend after just getting him back. “Hey, if I’m going to steal lines it might as well be the best ones.” Were they being a bit sappy? Hell yes. Scott didn’t care. * Scott might not be able to hug Stiles as hard as he wanted to, but Stiles was pretty much hugging Scott as tightly as he possibly could. "I always come up with the best lines...and the best ideas," he teased as he slowly started to pull out of the hug. It was starting to feel normal again. Thank god, because he really didn't want to feel horrible anymore especially now with Scott in Preya. "I don't want anything like what happened to happen again. So, from this point on we don't hold anything back. Okay?" * Scott’s smile went lopsided as he let Stiles go and nodded. “Deal,” he said in solid agreement. He was very relieved that this got settled without a screaming match or punches. Granted, he would have let Stiles take as many swings on him that was necessary. “So,” he said as his smile became a smirk. “Cora, huh.” * Scott's lopsided smile just made Stiles more. It was infectious. But he was glad that this went better than all of the scenarios that had gone through his head when Scott had arrived. "I guess you want to know how that happened, huh?" Because he still couldn't believe that he was with her. He sat down first because standing around would just become too awkward and once Scott sat down he started. "Well, it started with me needing a place to crash after Malia and I broke up. Cora offered up her extra room and I took it. Let's just say it didn't take long for us to start sharing a bed." * Scott sat down along with Stiles. He definitely wanted to hear this story, because last he knew Stiles would have jumped at a chance to be with Lydia. When they’d met Cora he would have said she wouldn’t have been with any of them. Guess he was wrong. “Wow,” Scott said with a grin. “You dog.” * "Hey, I didn't expect it to happen," he said with a slight shrug of his shoulders. He wondered if he should tell Scott that he had been with Lydia like right after he moved out of the house. Nah, maybe not right now. He'll just stick with the whole Cora story first. "I just figured I'd crash for a few weeks until I found a place, but we got close pretty quickly. Even when she started to talk about moving to a house, I figured, okay, now I really need to find somewhere, but she wanted me to stick around." * “Do you love her?” Scott was only slightly teasing Stiles. He honestly wanted to know if things were that serious. It would go a long way towards helping him decide how he’d answer Cora’s invitation. * Stiles thought about Scott's question for a moment. Did he love Cora? He cared about her. A lot. And he already knew that she loved him since she already said it to him. "I'm getting there." He was falling for her. He wasn't going to deny it. * Scott’s smile brightened. “Good,” he said. Stiles deserved this. He’d had to watch Scott with Allison then whatever had been starting between Scott and Kira. Stiles was a good guy. He deserved to have a girl appreciate that. “You know she offered to let me stay in the extra room.” * "Did she?" Why did Stiles not know about this? "When did Cora offer you the extra room?" Now he was curious. "What did you tell her?" And yes, he was asking question after question. "I mean, you could stay...if you wanted to. If you needed to." He finally stopped talking so that Scott could actually get a word in. * Scott couldn’t help but laugh. It was so good to hear Stiles peppering off questions like his normal self. Yes, it was definitely good to have his best friend back. He was relieved to know Stiles made it through the Nogitsune. “When I first got here,” he answered. “It was a private conversation, and it all hinged on whether you and I patched things up.” * Stiles didn’t say anything instead he just flashed Scott a quick smile. Because he knew if he started talking again, Scott would have no chance of getting a word in again. “Oh! Well, we patched things up. So, does this mean that you’re going to come stay with us?” He was hoping that Scott would say yes because one, it could be fun, and two, it could help them move on or at least help Stiles move on from everything. * “If I’m not going to cramp your studmuffin style.” Scott grinned, and couldn’t restrain the laugh. He held his hands up to ward off any physical retaliation Stiles might do. “Yeah, I’ll stay with you guys. I’d like that.” Better than trying to fumble around this place on his own. * “Oh, hahahaha.” Stiles playfully pushed at Scott. “I’ll just shove you into a closet or something if you start cramping myself,” he joking said. He wasn’t worried about it one bit. Right now the idea of it just sounded pretty cool. “Awsome! Grab your stuff then. Because you’re coming home with me.” He paused for a moment before saying, “That kind of sounded wrong.” Wasn’t there something else he was supposed to tell Scott? He seriously couldn’t remember at the moment. “Were we supposed to talk about anything else?” * Scott grinned for the push and went with even though he could have resisted it easily. This felt good, right. He had missed it. Of course what Stiles was forgetting was how good Scott’s sense of smell and hearing were. There wasn’t anything he could do about smell, but headphones would work. “I don’t really have anything,” Scott said. He’d only been here a little while. Then he chuckled for the innuendo. At Stiles’ question, he shrugged a shoulder. “Not that I can think of.” * “You didn’t bring anything with you?” Not like Stiles had any idea. He brought stuff with him when he came, but most things, like his jeep, had been left behind. He smiled real quick when Scott chuckled. “I can’t think of anything either.” He stood up, reached down and grabbed Scott by the shirt and pulled him up. “Come on, let’s get to the house before I become too tired and make you carry me home..” * “I didn’t think about it,” Scott said as he went with the tug to his shirt. “Was I supposed to bring stuff? I didn’t to pack.” He kind of stumbled along. “....I brought some money!” * “And this is exactly why you need me.” He shook his head and started to drag Scott out and towards home. |
