It was over, long since over. Same with the second relationship. Both, in the end, just wanted to meet his father and his mother, celebrities for their own reasons. It had been incredibly depressing. Maybe that was why he liked Clint as much as he did - there weren't any of those expectations and it was comforting. That, and he liked the silliness. That was good too.
