She walked with him down the path and back towards a patio she spotted after only a minute as she listened to him, giving nothing more than a noncommittal sound as a response in regards to his words about sending people into dangerous situations. It wasn't until his next statement that she replied, lips quirking faintly. "Generally I'm the one being sent out rather than sending others out myself." Though Natasha had a feeling that Selene, being as sneaky as she was, would probably end up maneuvering her into some kind of authoritative position before too long if she let her.
"Coffee is fine. Like you said, I'm on duty." She set her nearly-empty cup down on the table and sank into a chair as her gaze shifted back to him, studying him. "Not many would be that observant," she pointed out. "But yes, it generally is - except in the case of those who become too dependent on weapons."
Natasha appreciated that he wanted to get right to the point. So did she, when the situation called for it, as it did right now. "Essentially, at the moment it's two-fold. In the long term, we could use a consultant with your background and knowledge that we could bring in if we come up against specific situations. Of course, you'd be compensated. The department has standard contracts that we could work out with you either on a case by case basis, or to keep you on retainer." She paused for a moment, then continued.
"Now as for the short term, have you heard about the alleged disappearances occurring over the past five months?"
