Scott had come to Preya to get away from all the death and grief back in Beacon Hills. He’d had no idea anyone from home would be here when he accepted the invitation. He couldn’t say if he would or wouldn’t have rejected the offer if he had known. All Scott knew right now was that Allison was alive and she was on her way to see him right now! It was everything he could do to keep from pacing, remain in his seat and drink his coffee. Every time the door opened Scott’s eyes snapped to it. More than a handful of times he was disappointed. Then her scent tickled his nose just before the door opened once more. This time he did stand up, slowly as his eyes drank in the sight of Allison, alive and well. Less than a week ago, Allison thought she was alone in Preya, and had been working on dealing with that fact. When she had woken up in the hospital and had her worst fears confirmed, she had been devastated, and had been attempting to resign herself to never seeing her friends or family again. The days that had followed had been a blur, until she had been finally released from the hospital - and it had still been another few days before she’d taken a look at the strange network the country had - and found so many. Since then, she’d seen most of her friends and even an enemy who she was expected to somehow just accept now - but he had taken away the pain of her still healing wound, which Deucalion didn’t need to do. She’d been conflicted after that, still trying to catch up to everything...and then Scott had arrived. Going to meet him wasn’t even an option - only a given fact. As she pushed open the door of Common Grounds, dark eyes flew immediately to Scott, and she smiled, pausing for a second in the doorway until a man behind her cleared his throat loudly. “Oh - sorry!” She told him over her shoulder, then beelined straight towards her… ex. There were no words as she stepped up to him without hesitation and wrapped her arms around him in a hug. Scott had to remind himself to not hug her as much as he wanted. Allison was only human. Not that she was weak, helpless or harmless by any stretch of the imagination, but she lacked the resilience to withstand Scott’s strength. That still didn’t stop him from scooping her into his arms and lifting her off her feet. He was more than a little overwhelmed. The last time he held her she had been dying. She had died in his arms. This was a much better circumstance, and yet he found a few tears dampen his lashes. And through all of this he again forgot that she wasn’t his girlfriend anymore. She was with Isaac. That would come back to him. Eventually. It took a while, but Scott finally put Allison back down on her feet. He didn’t let go, but he did let her pull back so he could smile at her. “So...hi.” The last time she’d seen Scott, she had been laying back in his arms, trying to tell him something incredibly important, declaring her love, and not feeling much of anything. Right now, though, she could feel his arms around her - and that was all that mattered. Her arms tightened when he lifted her off her feet, and Allison closed her eyes against tears of her own, pressing her face into his shoulder. When her feet touched the floor again Allison lifted her face slowly, then returned his smile - following it up with a laugh. “Hi you,” she replied, one hand lifting to swipe quickly at her eyes. “You look… exactly the same.” And that was comforting, considering everyone else was either months - or years - past her in their times, now. So did she...minus the blood, pallid appearance. No, she looked just like had before the fight. Beautiful. Scott’s smile lifted as he took in every detail of her face. His hands settled on her waist as if they were still dating. “You look great,” he said without any hesitation. Then Isaac came to mind...finally...and Scott’s smile faded at the edges. He cleared his throat as he lowered his hands awkwardly, and took a step back. “Uh...how’s things? Did I hear Isaac is here?” Her own hands rested comfortably on his shoulders as she grinned a bit, though it turned a little uncertain as she saw his smile dim and he stepped back from her. Allison’s hands slipped from his shoulders and when he spoke, she realized just what was happening. “Uh - yeah. He’s here.” She was the one who told him, after all. Scott’s other question was a little more complicated, and Allison took a moment longer to answer, sliding into an empty chair at the table he had vacated before. She waited until he sat too, then shook her head. “Things are...weird? Just - everyone else has been here for weeks, or months. And they keep telling me things that happened in Beacon Hills...after. Even Isaac - apparently my dad took him to France and he learned how to cook, and now here he owns his own restaurant.” Breaking off, Allison shook her head. “It’s all confusing,” she said finally. And overwhelming, she added in her head. A lot of information got dumped on him in that first post he made. Scott couldn’t keep it straight in his head and more was coming in. Besides, anything Allison told him past confirming that she was alive pretty much didn’t matter to Scott. Until he remember Isaac. He listened to Allison as he sat down across from her, but his attention was on her. Scott watched for any little sign that would tell him where she stood with Isaac. He didn’t want to just come right out and ask. That would make too much sense! “Wow,” he said. “A restaurant! That’s amazing!” Scott meant it, too. Isaac had been one of the least confident people Scott had ever met. But Isaac was a good guy, and Scott was glad he was getting on alright. His smile flickered back as he snorted. “No kidding,” Scott said in complete agreement. “This place was supposed to be better than home, but here Stiles is mad at me, dating Cora Hale and everyone is older.” “It is, isn’t it. It takes some getting used to, since there wasn’t even a hint of something like that in Beacon Hills.” Not that she didn’t believe Isaac had it in him, but she was having a hard time seeing him that way. At least here, with Scott, Allison could be comfortable. He was the same, unlike everyone else. Neither of them shared the memories the other did, which meant that in a way, they were in this together. “Stiles is mad at you? I had no idea. But he never stays mad at you for long, so I’m sure things’ll be okay.” She smiled again. “Stiles and Cora is just...I mean, it’s not so</ii>exactly what meant. “Oh...I...I really don’t know.” Allison hesitated, looking down at the table between them. “I know that...well, Isaac and I were together - or starting to get together - back in Beacon Hills, but we haven’t talked about it and he’s from a while after all of that.” Absently, she started to fiddle with a stray napkin, before she looked back up at Scott. “I haven’t had the chance to figure it out, yet.” Plus, now Scott was there. And for all they knew, Kira might show up next. That had to be a factor, right? Kira might show up. Either of them could meet someone else from somewhere else. But there was a huge elephant in the room that was the things Allison had said to him...what he’d said back...while she was dying in his arms. “I know we said things,” he started. His own eyes went to the table space between them. “I...just want you to know...I don’t expect anything.” Wanted? Hoped for? Maybe. He wasn’t sure himself. “Whatever you want to do.” “Yeah, we did,” she said quietly, and after a moment Allison reached out to touch his arm lightly. “And - thanks. I appreciate that.” At least, it took off some pressure, though she hadn’t really thought he would pressure her. In all honesty, Allison did still love Scott. She probably always would - and now that they didn’t have some of the same challenges and roadblocks they did back home, maybe they could get back to where they were before. “Scott - can we...maybe just start doing things together again? And then the rest we can just figure out later? Would that be okay?” Relief mixed with a touch of disappointment went through Scott. Allison would be able to feel him relax beneath her touch. Yes, he loved her...still loved her, but he felt guilty about the whole Isaac thing, and that was something he’d have to get past before anything happened. “Yeah,” he said in reassurement with a smile to match. Scott lifted his eyes to Allison as he put his hand over hers. “Whatever you want. Friends. Always.” Allison’s smile grew a little, and she squeezed his arm softly. At least they both had that - but really overall, she wasn’t sure what to decide about everything else between them. “And hey, we’re here together, our friends are here, and...our parents aren’t. I think that calls for a little celebrating, don’t you?” Her other hand pushed her hair back from her eyes, more than glad that they all had each other in Preya. She wouldn’t want to be alone right now. “Now - do you want to go get something to eat? Then maybe we could grab a movie, or something? Anything?” Scott chuckled as he recalled his mom yelling at him and Isaac for banging up the house. He was pretty sure she’d have more than a few words with him for running off like he had. So Allison had a point...especially since her dad kind of hated him. “Good point,” he said with a nod. Her suggestion finish bringing his smile back, and his stomach answered before he could with a growl. “That sounds like a great idea.” |
