Like promised, Cora had returned from Peter’s the next morning. The day went typically as usual for Cora. But once the night came, she sent Stiles a text saying she didn’t want to see him until the dinner, as a surprise. So she made sure to stay away, getting ready. She felt nervous since Cora had never really gone on a date before, she never had the time to do so, so she wanted it to be nice.
She made sure to buy a dress for the occasion since it was an official date they had both agreed upon. Her dress would be very well form fitting and a light navy blue with short black sleeves. Her once short hair had grown to mid-length at this point. Cora’s main reason for wanting to not see Stiles, was so she also had time to learn to walk in heels, since she had purchased some.
But now, it was time for that date. Texting Stiles to come over and get her. That golden necklace, bracelet, and earrings kissed her skin as she wore a very light pink shade to her lips. She did feel a little out of place, but it was because Cora never dressed girly. Until this very moment.

Stiles had been walking home when he got the text from Cora. Well, what in the hell was he supposed to do now? He was already almost home and he wasn't going to turn around and find somewhere to go. So, he said screw it and just finished heading home. Although, very slowly.
Once he did get home, he just sat down next to the front door and waited for Cora to say that he was allowed to come home, which had been a while later. Any longer and he probably would have just fallen asleep. He stood up and then went inside.
"Honey, I'm home!" he sarcastically said as he shut the door behind himself.
*** She was glad she was up in her room when Stiles came home. His smartass remark made her smirk. “I’m coming!” She shouted as she came to look in the mirror once more. Her heart was pounding in her chest at this point, so loud she was sure Peter could hear it. A deep exhale as she came to finally open the door to that room. Slowly, she came to step out her room and make her way around that corner to the living room where Stiles was waiting.
This was the big moment, to see what his reaction would be to her dressed the way she was dressed. Once standing there, her fingers would come to grip that clutch purse. Her bottom lip nipped at as she came to keep eyes away from Stiles.
A sign she was embarrassed enough as it was, being dressed the way she was. But this was a date. And girls dressed up for dates, right? She just hoped she wasn’t too overdressed and that he wouldn’t poke fun of her.
*** "Okay," he called back to her. He wondered how long he would have to wait. He thought about sitting down on the couch when he heard Cora coming.
He wasn't exactly sure what he had been expecting, but when she rounded that corner and he got to see what she was wearing...all he could do was just look at her. "Wow..." No wonder she told him to stay away. "Look at you," he said, smiling. This was definitely not a normal look for Cora. It was a good one, though. "Now I feel completely underdressed."
*** Cora wasn’t exactly sure what to expect from Stiles, but being speechless or lost of all functioning words was a plus in her eyes. So when he said he was underdressed she came to smile at him. “You’re a guy. You’re fine.” She replied as she tugged at the hem of the bottom dress as she pulled it down slightly. Showing she was still trying to get used to the outfit.
But she came to smile as she looked to Stiles once more. “Ready?” She asked as she bites her bottom lip. Tossing the car keys to her car towards Stiles, letting him drive her car since she was fearful of driving with heels, and if she took them off she was going to change completely at that point.
So no, Cora was determined to see this dress thing through to the end of the date.
***
Stiles could just stare at her all night, but that wouldn't exactly be date night, now would it? He did notice, though, that she was a little uncomfortable. Especially when she started to pull at the hem of the dress. It had been fine. Nothing was showing. Well, that should not be showing.
"I'm ready if you are," he replied as he caught the keys that had been tossed his way. "You're going to let me drive your car?"
*** She came to stick out her leg and move her foot for the moment with the heel on it. “Not trying to get us killed tonight.” She said, in her own way stating she wasn’t comfortable driving in heels tonight. Or maybe ever. Still, she came to look at Stiles and notice he was still staring at her.
“What’s that look on your face?” She said motioning towards the way he was staring at her for the time being. Her frame coming to a few steps towards the door, before stopping and looking at Stiles once more. Who was, once again staring at her.
*** "Good idea. I don't feel like dying tonight." Or anytime soon, he thought. He was once again staring at her except this time he hadn't realized it until she said something. He snapped out of it and then asked, "What look?"
He watched as she slowly made her way to the front door. he wondered if he should stick close to her just in case she toppled over because of the heels that she had on. When she looked back at him, he just flashed her a smile, walked over and opened the door. Once she was out, he walked out.
Once the door was locked, he walked alongside her as they headed towards the car. "You're not going to fall over, are you?"
*** “The kind of look that makes me want to punch you, remember?” She replied as she rolled her eyes slightly at him. Once outside she would hear his question about falling. “No, I’m fine.” She replied as she came to lick at her lips for the moment as she ran her hand through her hair.
“Am I overdressed?” She asked him since she assumed he’d been on dates before. Since Stiles was more experienced than Cora was when it came to any type form of relationship with people. Since let’s face it Cora was slightly antisocial.
***
"Let's refrain from wanting to punch me, huh?" He didn't get why she always wanted to punch him. He was just looking at her. Nothing wrong with that. With the way, she was dressed how could he not? "Okay, good. I would hate for you to eat it." He'd keep an eye on her tonight. He wouldn't want her to eat concrete.
"You're fine. Anyway, you're a girl. It's what you're supposed to do," he said before adding, "I guess." Not like he really went out anywhere fancy with Malia. Then again they didn't really go on dates. They kinda just hung out and other things.
When they reached Cora's car, he hit the unlock button the key fob and opened the passenger side door for her.
*** “Hale.” She replied pointing at herself. But quickly leaned in and placed a kiss on his cheek. Once they reached her car, Cora would take her seat on the passenger side.
The drive alone wasn’t long. It allowed Cora to relax a bit as she came to exhale and look out the window for the moment, her hand slipping from it’s resting place which was her lap and coming to rest within his. Cora wasn’t much for showing affection, except privately and that was late. So for her to come and hold Stiles hand, for her it was a big issue.
***
“What does that have to do with anything?” Once Cora was in, he shut the door, got in himself and started to drive towards the restaurant.
Every once in awhile he would glance over at Cora. And when Cora grabbed a hold of his hand, he laced his fingers with her’s. Being with Cora was different than being with Malia. He actually felt like he connected more with Cora even though they had only started hanging around each other for such a short while, but it didn’t feel like that. It felt like they had been around one another for far longer.
It wasn’t long before he was parking the car in the parking lot and opening the door for Cora once again.
*** Once within that restaurant, Cora would step out and walk beside Stiles. It didn’t take long for them to be seated. Cora came to sit across from Stiles for the moment as she bites her bottom lip from time to time as she watched him closely. She thought about what Peter said and came to exhale calmly.
“Stiles…” She said softly. “I want this to work. I mean it’s been working so far which is great. Just I never did the whole relationship thing.” She said a bit nervously, as she came to sip at the water that was placed on the table for them when seated. Brown eyes came to look at the menu before finding what she wanted.
Steak. Cora always loved meat and protein.Already that menu would be closed as she came to look at Stiles for the moment. “And I hope I didn’t freak you out when I said I love you.” She said as she felt her cheeks get red.
***
Ater, they were seated, Stiles glanced around the place. It wasn't anything too fancy, but it wasn't anything like the diner either. It was something in between.
"Yeah?" he asked as his attention went to Cora. "It will work as long as we make it work. I'm not exactly an expert. I've only really been with Malia." And they both knew how that turned out. "Are you afraid something is going to happen?" He had to ask the question. She seemed worried, so it was better to just get it out in the open, anything that she was thinking about or worrying about.
He wasn't quite sure what he wanted yet, which was why he was still staring at his own menu. Only looking up when Cora spoke. "You didn't freak me out. I guess I didn't expect it to so soon, which there's nothing wrong with that. I still feel a little bad for teasing you enough that you took off to Peter's."
*** “Well the only one who really ever did the whole relationship thing in my family was Derek, and he ended up having to kill her because of how much pain she was in.” She replied thinking for the moment. “So I don’t want anything happening to us. I don’t want you getting hurt.” She said as she came to look at Stiles for the moment.
Taking a sip of her water as she brushed her mid-length hair from her face. “And I shouldn’t have run off to Peter’s but I’m glad I did in a way, it gave us the chance to talk, it was like talking to the old Uncle Peter.” She said with another nod of her head.
“He says I shouldn’t overthink. So I’m not going to. Even though I’m rambling now.” She replied as she flicked Stiles' hand. “You have me rambling now.” She said with a stern face but soon smiled.
*** “Well, you’re not Derek,” Stiles pointed out. “Nothing is going to happen and I’m not going to get hurt. We’re not in Beacon Hills anymore. I think it’s safe to say that we’re pretty safe here.” If they were back home, he’d get it. Something was always out there putting them in danger, but this was Preya. So far nothing bad or crazy really happened in this place.
“There was another version of him? Why do I find this hard to believe?” It had sucked when Cora ran off, but it seemed like it did her some good, so maybe it was meant to happen the way that it did that night.
“Well, hey, he actually gave you some good advice,” he told her, smiling. “Uh oh, did I rub off on you a little bit?” he teasingly asked.
*** Cora couldn’t help but smile at Stiles for the moment. Only to brush her hair from her face as she came to exhale and relax a little more. “I know we’re not in Beacon Hills anymore. “ She stated lightly as she came to look around for the most part. “And maybe you are, maybe you’re not.” She said teasingly as she leaned back in her seat.
Her arms coming to rest on the table as she came to reach over and take hold of his firm fingers for the most part. So far she was liking the date and she liked talking to Stiles calmly. “You know, I’m glad I came here.” She said as she came to exhale once again. Her fingers playing with his lightly.
“And I’m glad we were able to have this chance with each other. It feels, normal. Right, in a way. Like it was supposed to be like this always.” She said as she blushed lightly.
*** Even though Cora was worried, Stiles wasn’t. They had been in Preya long enough to see that they would be perfectly fine. This was their second chance at their lives. Why would anything bad happen?
“Me too,” he said as he let her play with his fingers. “I feel the same way.” He really did. It was from the moment they got close everything just felt right. Like, he felt complete once again. He didn’t feel like that with Malia, probably because things hadn’t been so great before his arrival in Preya and it just seemed to stick when they both showed up. But being with Cora...he was totally happy again.
