She’d been following Matthews for a couple days. Rogue knew from her training with Weapon X how to keep herself from being noticed, and she knew from Remy’s mental reassurances just how to make sure no one was following her in return. Finding his headquarters was simple, and so was finding out where he lay his head for the evening - a home with “top of the line” security. Which is why, around 2:30 in the morning, Rogue was pressed to the side of his house, studying the locked box that held the security system’s main workings. After a moment of studying the keyhole, she lifted one hand and touched it, and unleashed her current power - Remy’s - in a brief, violet burst. The box melted from the heat and sparks shot out from the system, then faded as she took it out completely. That done, Rogue moved around to the other side of the house and leapt up to the balcony she’d previously picked out. Pulling herself up and over the railing, she opened the balcony door softly and slipped into Matthews’ bedroom. Pausing briefly to ensure there was no movement from the form that breathed evenly on the bed, Rogue then headed towards a dark pile of clothing. She’d seen him slip the journal Moriarty had told her about into his jacket pocket on multiple occasions, and she was betting that was where he typically kept it. Silently, the mutant shifted his clothes until she found the jacket, and smiled triumphantly when she found the journal itself. Slipping it out, she transferred it into her own pockets, then headed back towards the balcony. Three minutes later, she was two blocks away and walking down the street, heading far away from the home of Clark Matthews. |
