Something we wouldn't understand, even with an explanation. Same with your flying thing. Different worlds, different technology, different magic, a different sort of person. Are the people with different, or modified, genetics part of the supernatural population or not? Pedantic semantics?"
Selene shrugged again. "Which, I suppose, takes us back to your original question; where did the missing people go. And following the money. Which may just be a function of whatever principle this place operates on. Take a random sample of the vanished, pull their financial information. See if they left resources behind, or if everything went with them. The first would imply the need for further investigation. The second may just be the way this place works, and we can never understand it."
