Who: Castiel and Gabriel What: It's time these boys had a chat... When: Tuesday, October 10 Where: Gabriel's Shop - Just Desserts Status: Ongoing/Closed Warnings: bit of the darker side of Cas's mental health coming through here. Anything else tbd!
Castiel was still thinking about jigsaw puzzles. Once he'd said it, it had gotten stuck in his head. Time is fluid, he'd said that to Dean once. Now he thought, it was more like a jigsaw puzzle, and each of them was holding a piece, only the pieces changed over time and made different pictures, so the pieces each of them held here didn't really make a clear picture anymore. Jess then Jo now Gabriel(!) then Cas then Sam then Dean. Perhaps others, even, that hadn't come forward yet. He just needed to figure out what the shape of Gabriel's piece was. Nothing fit but what they made fit, and it had worked out okay so far. Cas couldn't exactly say they were all happy, but no one was fighting or angry and there was no war to be fought here.
But Gabriel... Gabriel was one of his brothers, truly and undeniably, in ways that the other angel couldn't be. Castiel craved his brother's acceptance as much as he feared it. The last time he'd met his siblings had not gone well. Hester's hurt and anger and betrayal, he deserved all of it. He'd been willing to accept whatever punishment deemed harsh enough, before Meg stepped in - he had been disappointed when she did. Did Gabriel know what he'd done? Could he know, if he'd been here since Lucifer? The war in heaven, Raphael, all the others... There was so much that Castiel had to redeem himself for. Perhaps that could start here, with Gabriel. There was no Meg to interrupt them now, after all.
So, Castiel only hesitated a moment before flying to meet his brother, once Gabriel stopped hiding his location. He landed softly, eyes locked on his brother, solid and real and right there in front of him. "Gabriel. You're really here. I thought perhaps..." Cas found himself smiling - after all, Gabriel was his brother, and Cas had thought he was dead. Even though he had run away from everything back home, that didn't mean that Castiel didn't miss his family.
