Having come to Deucalion’s home earlier in the week, Kitty knew the way and had no trouble making it over to his cabin in Everdale tonight, the night of the full moon. Since it was her first full in Preya, she’d taken the night off from the radio station so that she could adjust, and was glad she did. The sun had already set and the air had begun to cool, but Kitty didn’t seem to mind. As she rounded Deucalion’s home to walk over to the treeline to wait for him and whoever else was coming, she pulled off her jacket and pulled a scrunchy out of her hair, shaking it loose. The hair tie was placed in a pocket of the jacket, and she stopped by the edge of the trees to take off her shoes, leaving her barefoot and wearing only a tank top and a pair of sweatpants. Behind a large tree, she carefully laid her jacket and shoes, then leaned against it. Her head was tipped up to smell the area around her, and behind her eyes Wolf was already looming, eager to run and hunt and claim some piece of territory for herself. She mentally eased that side of her, soon, and waited patiently for the others. --- For so long the Alpha had walked alone; not longer a part of a pack, nor a part of a family either. Even the call of the moon had felt so hollow over the last few years, but tonight was so very different. In such a short period of time Deucalion had found himself a part of something once more. Not just an ally or guide, as he had been to Scott and the young wolf’s pack, but a friend to a few others too. In truth it surprised even the old wolf, since he hadn’t expected to find himself forging bonds once again, yet as the moon rose high up above he was glad to not be alone. With a casual stride he moved into the clearing, offering a smile when he spotted her there. However instead of saying anything at all the old Alpha just paused to gaze up towards the heavens, drinking in the sight of the full moon high above. “It’s an amazing thing; to see another glorious moon with my own two eyes again. Honestly I had once thought, not too long ago, that I’d never get to witness such a night ever again but here we are.” Whether he was talking about the lose of his sight, or the fact that he had practically died just a short while ago before being invited to Preya, was anyone’s guess. Instead of speaking further on the subject Deucalion just took a moment to strip off his sweater and the tee shirt beneath it, revealing a powerful build that was typically hidden beneath the layered clothing. No longer restricted by the heavy garb the wolf stretched his back and arms, not bothering to remove his jeans or shoes. Those eyes of his glowed bright red as he cast another glance up to the sky, and with a grin of genuine delight his own change took hold. Oh there was no true wolf form to be found with the Alpha; instead it was the Demon Wolf that awoke beneath the moonlight. Monstrous to behold; pure power and apex predator rolled into one, yet still there was no sign that his infamous anger was present at all. That booming voice of his echoed out, even as he spoke at a softer level, and after flexing his clawed hands the wolf just pointed towards the forest. “I caught the scent of elk just a few hours ago coming from that direction. Shall we see if we can’t track it down, and savor the fresh kill?” --- “I’ve been inside on full moons, but I can’t imagine not being able to see it at all,” Kitty replied softly, lowering her head as she looked over at Deucalion. She watched with interest as he changed mainly because it was so different from how she and all the weres she knew changed. She blinked when he finished, staring at him for a long moment, still expecting him to end up on all fours. “...Huh,” she said, though it was mostly to herself. She couldn’t deny the fact that it was extremely impressive, and the fact that his very presence just practically screamed Alpha. Wolf was caught between trying to stare him down or ducking her head, and Kitty fought the urge to glance in the direction he’d indicated. “Sounds like dinner,” she said with a slight laugh, then pushed off from the tree. Without any thought to modesty - she had left that long ago as a part of her human life - Kitty tugged her tank top off and dropped it onto her jacket, then pushed her sweatpants down so that they joined the small pile; she never bothered with underwear on full moon nights. After letting out a soft breath, she let the Change take over. When she had first been bitten, Kitty had tried to fight it, and had quickly learned that it hurt worse that way. Now, it came pretty naturally to her, and overtook her almost like the ripple of water. Bones shifted beneath skin that sprouted tawny fur. Claws grew, gripping the ground as she moved to all fours, her nose and mouth becoming a long snout. The woman who weighed 117 pounds became a wolf who weighed the same - far larger than an average wolf - all thanks to the Law of Conservation of Mass that governed weres in her world. When she finally finished, the wolf shook herself once, all over, then padded in a circle, sniffing the air as she took a moment to adjust to the different air. At last, she shifted her attention to the Alpha whose scent filled her nose and, after only a brief hesitation, she padded over to him, bumping his leg in greeting. --- His own change took place in the blink of an eye, that skin of his growing dark grey, vicious black claws appearing on his fingers, and even his already impressive physique expanded until Deucalion’s muscles seemingly doubled in size. That typically brown hair of his became darker too, and razor sharp fangs were seen as well. Oh most of the wolves from his world were hybrid in nature, yet his own form was far more akin to his title ‘Demon Wolf’ then compared to the more animalistic features of his fellow werewolves. For all that though he was still a wolf on two legs, and seeing the world through those red eyes just brought back the old sensations of genuine joy. The sound of her laughter drew his intense gaze, yet even as intimidating a figure as the Alpha could be (especially when he grinned with those fangs) the look of real amusement was seen in his eyes. “Dinner and a sport. Nothing gets the hunger rising like a good chase.” It had been so long since he let loose; since the old Alpha really reveled in a run and hunt beneath the light of a beautiful full moon. Even now his senses left the wolf reeling in ecstasy as he listened to the sounds of the forest; enjoying being in the heart of a gorgeous landscape that the magical Emerald Forest provided. There really was something special about the place, and it’s magic hummed against his skin as he drank it all in. When she moved to strip down Deucalion made no effort to look away. No trace of shame or modesty was present at all since he was all to familiar with others changing in such a fashion. Oh some little part of that English upbringing almost had him blushing, yet in the end he simply patiently waited for her transformation to be complete before nodding at last. “The others will catch up when they arrive, and should they need aid we will hear their howl.” A single eyebrow rose when the young wolf drew near, yet when she nuzzled against his leg the Alpha just smiled anew. Without saying a thing he carefully reached down and ran his fingers gently through her fur before lightly brushing them against her ear. Those claw of his could rip through metal with ease, yet never once did he accidentally cut her. Instead the Alpha just studied Kitty intently for a few seconds before nodding at last to himself. “Shall we hunt, my dear?” With a deep rumbling chuckle his whole body just tensed, and a second later those powerful legs of his were one the move. Inhuman speed and impossible grace had the old wolf tearing through the dense forest; weaving through the trees with ease as he started to hunt for the scent of fresh prey in earnest. --- The human side of Kitty understood what the wolf didn’t, and her head ducked slightly at his words. Animal instincts had already kicked in for the most part otherwise, and while the wolf stood tall at his side, she kept her eyes and head down just a little in deference. He wasn’t her Alpha, but there was still that matter of respect, which she would show in full. Her head didn’t even twitch below his claws, though one ear shifted slightly at the final touch, adjusting to the strange feeling. She felt him tense beside her and lifted her gaze, and almost as soon as Deucalion took off, Kitty was on his heels. This was one of the best things about being a werewolf - running free, feeling everything, and just reveling in being. He moved ahead of her quickly, and she put on her own burst of speed to catch up on his heels, head high so that she could pick up the scent of the elk he’d mentioned. Other, older scents - rabbits and birds and even a fox - were ignored in favor of the promise of larger game. --- There in the heart of the forest he shed all trace of every burden he had been carrying for so very long. The guilt over a past filled with rage and bloodshed. The worry over the few people he had left behind when arriving here. Even the mixed emotions of finding the familiar but unexpected faces here in Preya. Here in the woods, racing beneath the leafy canopy in the dark, the Alpha was finally free of everything...everything except that primal desire to run and hunt. It was euphoric, to be no longer bound by anything but the joy of the chase, and Deucalion felt a touch of real contentment. Oh the old wolf enjoyed the bonds he was building, and even the simple life he was starting too. However in the heat of the hunt, with his blood racing, giving in to the wolf’s nature was divine. He lost track of time with every step he took, and that energy of his seemed down right boundless. Still after racing through the woods without a care in the world he came to a stop at last. Without bothering to say a word at all Deucalion just froze in place, those eyes of his scanning the surrounding area as he caught whiff of the elk at last. Those fangs of his appeared once more as a toothy grin of glee spread across his face, and with a look at her the wolf just pointed again at the large elk off in the distance. --- The nice thing about being in this form was that Kitty’s own problems were gone. They were someone else’s, the human woman’s who was in the back of her mind, sure, but they weren’t an issue right now. As they ran, Kitty let herself stretch and enjoy herself, reveling in the run itself rather than simply the hunt. That changed the moment she caught the same smell he did, continuing a few feet past him before she stopped as well. After a return glance at Deucalion, Kitty moved low to the ground and started forward, nose working in silence as she was careful to remain upwind. She crept along the ground until she reached a small group of shrubs, using them as cover as she finally caught sight of an elk through the leaves. Sharp eyes narrowed, and she waited for Deucalion to give the signal before she launched herself at the animal with an impressive growl. Instinctively she wanted to go for its throat, but that would be the Alpha’s move, and so instead Kitty goaded it into a run so they could continue the chase. This was the sport half of their dinner. --- The Alpha had nearly forgotten how exhilarating it was to hunt with others; the thrill of it all, the excitement and anticipation, all of it just had his pulse racing. Oh the urge was there; the hunger and desire to simply rip out the elk’s throat before it even knew what had hit it. Still as he watched Kitty stealthily make her way through the brush Deucalion couldn’t bring himself to put an end to the fun. Instead he held back for just a moment, allowing her to slip around the beast’s side, and when her roar and charge set the creature fleeing the Alpha was on the move too. A single swipe of his claws tore through the elk’s hind; not enough to cripple or slow it’s run at all, but more than enough to send the large animal into a frenzy. Just the sound of it’s heart hammering away, the scent of it’s fear rolling off it in waves, all of it had the old wolf’s mouth watering. Again and again the Alpha drew near, racing along it’s side as the elk tore through the woods. Over and over he lashed out, each time drawing just a little blood and forcing the creature to accelerate even faster. Had he been ravishingly hungry Deucalion would have ended this with a single snap of the neck, yet presently the wolf was far to enthralled in the chase itself...far too caught up in the fun of running with Kitty, to bring the chase to an end just yet. --- Kitty stayed on the elk’s heels as well, growling and nipping at its hooves whenever it started to slow. All this was the best part of the hunt, and while her human side wasn’t a big fan, the wolf had to be let out to do this from time to time. It was how she stayed sane. As the elk’s exhaustion began to mix with its fear in Kitty’s nostrils, she knew instinctively that the chase would be ending soon - if the beast didn’t break its leg on a tree root, it would just stumble and drop from over-exertion - which led the wolf to decide to make her move. Leaping from her run onto the elk’s back, her claws dug in as her jaw clamped on the back of the elk’s neck and she used her inertia to roll to the side and bring it down with her. Hot blood was already leaking around her teeth, but she left the jugular for Deucalion to give him the kill out of deference. Once she brought the elk down, she let go and backed off just a little, waiting for him to make his move so they could both feast. --- Between the scent of the hot fresh blood, and the cries of the panicked elk, the old wolf was completely caught up in the moment. It didn’t matter that his own body was covered in dozens of little droplets of blood; from the branches and thick brush slicing at his skin. After all the wounds healed nearly a few seconds after appearing too. No all that mattered was the way he felt, the way his primal nature relished the chase of such prey. When Kitty launched her attack he nearly laughed and cheered with pride, yet words eluded the Alpha completely. Instead he just looked on for a moment, watching as she tore into it from her perch upon the large elks back. The simple fact that she was leaving the death blow to him impressed Deucalion immensely. Most younger wolves lost themselves in the hunt itself, but still she kept her cool. When she backed up at last to allow him the kill the Alpha moved in to end it quickly, but when flight failed the elk it turned to fight instead. Those massive antlers lashed out on instinct, seeking to slash across the wolves as the creature fought to live. Had it just been him alone Deucalion wouldn’t have paid the attack any mind at all, yet the second he spotted those sharp antlers hurling towards Kitty something inside him just snapped. Oh she wasn’t pack by any means, yet that protective nature of the Alpha was out in spades. Before the elk could connect at all the old wolf was already there; dipping beneath it’s slash, grabbing the antlers by their base, and suddenly lifting the elk up off the ground. With a single spin Deucalion had the seven hundred pound elk slamming into the base of a massive tree; shattering the creature’s skill, spine, and neck as it died instantly while the Alpha bellowed out a roar that shook that very air around them. His own body shook with unadulterated rage, all of it aimed at the elk who tried to harm the wolf he ran with. Yet even as those broad shoulders of his trembled the wolf just remained so still for a moment until he calmed himself completely. At last a single sigh was heard, and a moment later the Alpha used a single claw to gut the elk cleanly with one swift motion. Not standing on ceremony his fist ripped into the animal, ripping out the liver and after taking a large bite the Alpha stepped aside to allow her access to the kill. --- It took a lot of self-control for Kitty to not move in for the kill herself, and she saw the moment the elk had chosen to try and fight - though it had in reality been dead since the moment they had caught its scent. Tensing, she saw the antlers start to turn towards her and was more than ready to jump aside, but was caught up short when the elk was suddenly lifted. A faint yip escaped her as she danced out of the way, watching as the Alpha physically picked up the elk and killed it out of sheer strength. That was nothing she’d ever seen Carl do. She stepped forward when the gutting happened, licking her snout as the strong scent of blood filled the air, almost overwhelming with its thickness. The moment Deucalion moved away, Kitty was there, pulling out a couple of organs and tugging them just a foot away so that she could eat in peace. Her eyes were open the entire time as she ate, watching Deucalion, ears twitching as she marveled at his strength. The human side of her and the wolf side were both fully in agreement that what he’d done had been nothing short of amazing. --- Even as the adrenaline ebbed and the tension slowly melted away from his body Deucalion remained silent for a moment. Instead of uttering a word the Alpha focused on devouring the elk’s liver, and mentally chiding himself for having lost control. In truth he had worked so hard to bury that anger, yet the prospect of her being hurt...it sparked something within the old wolf. At last, when the liver was gone, he moved back to the elk. This time reaching down to grab a hind leg, and with his boot resting on it’s side the wolf literally ripped the whole leg free from the body. With great care he flayed the flesh away with those razor sharp claws, gingerly taking his time until at last the task was done. Seeing her ears twitch somehow lightened the mood and, even covered in blood while holding a large elk leg in his grip, Deucalion started to chuckle warmly. “Well that was quite amusing. I’ll admit it has been a long time since I let go like that. I am glad that you were here, and grateful for the company my dear.” His smile would have seemed so sinister indeed, yet only a glint of real joy and no trace of menace was there in his red eyes. With that smile growing he slowly moved to sit down on the grass, his back resting against the base of the tree, before starting to tear into the leg he had torn off their fallen prey. --- When he spoke, she lifted her head, then gave the wolf approximation of a nod. After finishing off the kidney and stomach she’d pulled out, Kitty edged back over to the elk and gnawed at a foreleg until it came off. She didn’t have the leverage or strength he did, but she could still make do for herself. It was a large beast for two to polish off, but she’d try to keep up somewhat without overeating. Hopefully, others would join them, though they’d missed the hunt itself. After several minutes of eating in silence, she finished off most of the meat in the leg and finally sat up completely, licking the blood from around her mouth. This had been her first good hunt in a few months, and Kitty was glad she’d taken Deucalion up on his offer. --- Malia had finally made it to Deucalion’s house before she shifted. She had to be in the woods otherwise it wouldn't have been safe for anyone else around her. She still hadn't told Jonathan what she was but she had to eventually. “Deucalion?” She called out to her friend and she knew that another woman would be here too and she'd get to meet someone new for a change that wasn't from home and that was what she liked about this place. She just hoped she didn't shift anytime soon until her friend came towards her. Though she could feel herself shifting already and hoped that it would slow down a bit. --- Luckily for all involved the elk had been forced back in the direction of the cabin while Deucalion and Kitty were giving chase. So barely a stone’s throw from the edge of the dense forest the Alpha quietly chewed away on the bloody fresh leg of meat. When he heard his name called out an eyebrow arched a tad and after pausing to sniff the air the old wolf got up from the grass. Shirtless, covered in blood, and grinning at the feeling of being almost full he half jogged over towards where Malia was waiting. With a chuckle he actually waved the half eaten flayed elk leg at her; gesturing for the young woman to follow him back to the kill. “Come along, Malia. We’ve got fresh elk waiting for you, and the body is still warm.” Without saying another word he turned and headed back to the tree where the grizzly scene was waiting. Oh human’s might look at the mess and think it so savage, but Deucalion simply saw dinner laid out before them. Not bothering to whip the blood from his lips the Alpha just grabbed a seat by the elk’s body, and started gnawing at the leg in his hand once again. --- After hearing that their was fresh Elk her inner coyote took over and she transformed. She never refused fresh kill especially since it's her favorite. She hoped that she wouldn't scare the other girl but it seemed she was also a wolf and she hoped that the elk was still there when she arrived it seemed the other two got a head start. She ran into the back and gave out a quick howl to let them know she arrived and then went to attack the elk. She couldn't really talk right now because of her transformation and it would last until the full moon ended later on tonight. --- When the voice called through the trees, Kitty moved to all fours with lightning speed, a soft growl escaping her throat. She started to take a step forward, then stopped as Deucalion walked away, moving through the trees. The wolf paced back and forth restlessly once he disappeared from sight, guarding the elk and peering through the trees. At Deucalion’s return, she eased up a little, and after a moment she padded over to lay near him, almost like a guard. A few seconds later, she moved again, hackles raised at the howl. As the coyote trotted into view, Kitty stayed tense, drawing a little closer to the Alpha, while at the same time ready to spring if needed. His own calmness kept her in place for the time being, though she sniffed in the stranger’s direction as the coyote moved in towards their kill. --- That chuckle of his was heard once more as the older wolf looked on at the display. Just watching Kitty draw closer to where he sat, seeing her tense as Malia approached, it was so very amusing. Instead of growling, or even standing at all, the Alpha finished chewing a large bite of the raw delicious elk meat before finally speaking up at last. “Malia this is Kitty. Kitty this is Malia. The two of you are both my guests, and both are welcome to share in the feast. Still I ask that you refrain from harming each other since I count you each as being under my protection while we run and hunt tonight.” They weren’t a pack by any means, yet he was still an Alpha. Keeping those he cared for safe, well it was simply a part of who the man was, and that impulse to protect was freely extended to both of the women. As far as the elk was concerned, well there was still more than enough to go around for all of them. Seven hundred pounds of meat could feed a whole pack easily enough, and as things stood Deucalion was content with just savoring the hunk of leg still in his possession. --- Malia was eating the elk with happiness and she wasn't hungry anymore when she pulled away from it. Nodding her head to the other woman she would've said hello and smiled in a way of greeting but right now she was a werecoyote still. Malia wouldn't hurt Kitty she has no reason to and she seemed harmless enough. She then started running a little bit around the field hoping that she wouldn't get tired later. She looked at Deucalion and then at Kitty wondering what they were going to do next. -- Kitty watched as Malia went after the food, she merely flickered her ears slightly in reply. The coyote wasn’t much of a threat to her, and once she began to run around the field, the werewolf moved back to all fours and stretched, then turned her back on the coyote. Trotting over to Deucalion, she brushed against his leg briefly, then slipped past him into the woods to find a spot to mark as hers. When she returned after several minutes, she paced a large circle around both, sniffing the area to just familiarize herself with it, with the hopes that she would find it again the following full moon. It wasn’t a bad spot, it was secluded, and the only scents besides her, Deucalion, and Malia were other animals, though most were faint at the moment. --- The cabin had been ideal for the man’s needs; the place itself was comfortable, remote, and yet near enough to the light rails to not be a hassle when it came to traveling. However beyond all that the real draw of living here was the close proximity to the beautiful forest. From what he could tell no one really set foot in this little part of his wooded domain, which was perfect when it came to the Alpha’s needs. Honestly when Deucalion first arrived he hadn’t expected to have any company at all, and yet here he was enjoying the company of another wolf and a coyote. A part of him wanted to remain right there, simply picking over the remains of the elk until he was full. But in the end the Demon Wolf felt a surge of restless energy, and an impulse to stretch his legs with a run. After taking a moment to finish of his meal, and one more moment to lick the blood from his claws, the old wolf finally stood up at last and stretched before turning to face his guests. “You are both welcome to gorge yourselves until you are full, but if you are so inclined I was considering taking a bit of a run.” With the moon shining up above, a stomach full of delectable elk, nearly boundless energy the Alpha grinned a toothy grin before starting to run deeper into the forest realm. --- Malia wanted to get to know Kitty but she really couldn't do that since she can't talk in her coyote transformation. She howled in a way of a friendly greeting towards Kitty hoping it was trying to be a simple hello and not an attack. She started to run a bit again and she was full she hadn't eaten like that in a really long time and she enjoyed it. She laid down on the ground relaxing a little bit until the Alpha returned from his run. She wasn't sure if Kitty was going to do anything with her as another wolf. She'd have to wait and see. Her claws began paw the dirt in front of her. -- Kitty stood again and shook herself, then sniffed briefly in Malia’s direction. After a moment, she trotted over once the coyote settled a bit to sniff a little harder, then bumped her shoulder slightly to greet her. That done, Kitty then turned and headed off into the woods to run off her own energy on the heels of the Alpha. Tonight had actually gone surprisingly well. |
