"Oh no! They're quite ready!" Edwin quickly interjected, not wishing to displease the customer. "It's just.. well... " He was going to tell her the situation about the manager, but the customer looked like she was in a rush, and so she might not appreciate being told to wait until he returned. "... it's quite alright. I'll be able to take care of you. They're right over here."
He came around the counter and brought her over to the refrigerated glass display cases where her order was being stored, beautiful arrangements with roses and orchids.
"Why yes, I am," Edwin replied, looking over his shoulder at the customer. "I only arrived in Preya with my wife two days ago." He didn't consider she might be asking whether or not he was new in the shop, not necessarily new new to Preya.
