Losing his temper was something Deucalion rarely ever did; even over the last few decades the old wolf really only snapped once, and that was the night his Beta Marco tried to kill him after Deucalion returned home blind. Some wolves were prone to violent outbursts, and uncontrollable rage, yet even in the face of great frustration the Englishman remained downright cool as a cucumber. Patience, planning, cunning, and cold calculation...those were the traits he had favored in himself, and in others, for so long. However the Alpha never really faulted the young for being a tad reckless at times. Nowadays though it was hard to remain to utterly detached, especially when new bonds were being forged with others. The real challenge of late was being a bit more open, and letting that guard of his down.
At the question, and the words that followed, the Alpha found himself growing lost in thought; replaying the events of the past over and over as he tried to find something he could said to make things okay. "No, it was not enough. People died, mistakes were made, and in the end you lost your Alpha status. However, for all that, you survived and grew stronger. Strong enough to make a difference when it truly mattered." Once more Deucalion paused mid stride, casting his gaze up to the sky as he took in the sight of that clear crisp morning. "As far as being foolish though, I'd have to disagree. Given all that transpired you did what you could, and chose to save your sister instead of keeping your power. That sounds like something your mother would have done if she were in your place at the time....so forgot looking for excuses. When it really mattered most you proved your to be a Hale, and your father's son. What father could ever deny that, or be disappointed when his boy sacrificed so much to save his little sister?"
Oh he hoped that Kali would go easy on his sweaters as time progressed, yet even if his kitten didn't grow out of it the old Alpha knew he'd still adore her. "We shall see, I suppose." The remark of about the forest warranted an soft smile, and with a nod Deucalion turned his focus to the trees around them. "It's like being near a few dozen Nemetons at the same time. Strange, yet also a little comforting."
