For his part in it all Deucalion felt no real apprehension in meeting with the young Hale. If anything, from his point of view, things between them had been resolved in some measure at least. Oh the Alpha knew that this Derek was from his personal past, and had no memory of all that had transpired of late. Still the days of being blinded and poisoned with rage were long since gone. It had been a struggle to find his path back to being the man with a vision of peace he had once been so long ago. However with time the old wolf had found his way again. Granted that path towards redemption had come at a heavy price; namely his life, which would have been snuffed out completely if it weren't for Preya. Yet even after being gunned down and feeling his life fade away...well Deucalion found peace in the simple thought that he had done what he could.
At seeing Derek's understandable apprehension though a hint of a frown tugged at the man's lip. Honestly the recent news that Gideon was alive had elicited mixed emotions in the Alpha himself; joy at seeing an old friend once more, and guilt/shame over having that friend see how far Deucalion had fallen after being blinded and betrayed by both Gerard and his own pack. Yet after speaking with the older Hale Deucalion found the joy vastly outweighing the rest. "Give yourself, and your father, time to process it all. From what he said, well he's had a rough go of things and learning of your mother's demise...it's a lot for anyone to handle." At Derek's request the older wolf just nodded and began to follow right beside, strolling casually through the woods as his gaze drifted across the tree line.
The mention of Gideon's anger was met with another shrug, since Deucalion was well aware of it. "Indeed. One can hardly blame him for it, yet have no fear. I am sure none of that anger is directed at you in any way. Now Peter...well that is a different matter." The question merited a moment of silence and after giving it serious thought the Alpha finally spoke up once more. "I am doing well, all things considered. I wasn't truly sure just how I'd handle this place, but so far it's been a genuine delight. I even found myself gaining a companion too, and she is the most adorable little kitten you'll ever meet."
