For the Alpha the werewolf thing was far more than some disease. His experiences with the druid emissaries, all the years he spent learning what he could about the nemetons and other things out there...while he wasn't a fan of magic, Deucalion respected it immensely. Respected it's power and the fact that there were still things out there that science couldn't explain. When Kitty seemed impressed and surprised by the simple fact that were could have kids he made a mental note to ask about it later on. For now though, well that kitten Kali was growing slightly restless in his hand. So with a soft smile the old wolf carefully picked off a bit of chicken from the bone before offering it over to the black tabby.
When the woman's posture and gaze shifted a bit the Alpha made no remark, nor seemed bothered at all that she was doing her best to look him in the eye. Honestly his attention was already fixed onto teasing the kitten with a whole wing that he barely registered what she was doing. However when she spoke up again his full attention suddenly honed right in on her once more. "Vampires? Are you jesting, or being serious right now?" Deucalion had crossed paths with all manner of beasts, but never before had he heard of a vampire being spoken of in anything but a movie or book. Even as the question was raised he reached up with his free hand and slipped off those shades to study her without the obstruction.
As she continued on; discussing her past and the way she had been treated, a touch of real anger started to bubble up within the wolf. Oh she wasn't pack, but that did not mean that the Alpha couldn't feel...something, when he listened to what she had endured. Of course all that anger was no directed her way at all, yet it slowly simmered and melted away; as if he were almost storing it away, to be unleashed on a senator and scientist should his path ever cross theirs. "Well I am glad that you lawyer was making the effort, but still it sounds as if you went through quite a lot. I'd be looking for a respite too if I had gone through what you had my dear."
