A short, polite knock reverberated through the near-silent rooms of the penthouse, disturbing Loki's quiet Sunday morning. He, like always, had risen with the sun and spent the majority of the morning lost between the pages of tome he had obtained through his deal with Mr Cipher. The information contained therein was engrossing and he found himself eager to unlock the full potential of the incantations that were so carefully transliterated. It had been a long time since Loki had been able to learn anything new in relation to his sorcery and he was loathe to put down the book to answer the door. Nevertheless, he answered the call to see a smartly dressed receptionist from the main lobby standing on the opposite side and on her hands rested a silver tray. Carefully Loki lifted up the neatly addressed envelope and offered the smallest of smiles and the most delicate of thank yous to the now-blushing receptionist before retreating back into the quiet of him home. As gently as he could, he pried open the envelope and read the letter contained within as he walked casually back to his study.
It had been an age since Loki had written a proper letter by hand. He had always been rather fond of the smell of ink and the scratch of the tip of the pen on parchment paper. Selecting his stationary that he had embossed with the seal of the city of Ravenmoore, Loki penned a response in the flowing, graceful hand he had always been proud of.
Sephiroth,
I am no stranger to realms inhabited by dangerous creatures, having grown up and travelled to many worlds since I was young. Therefore, when I stated that I had officers investigate the rumours, I was speaking truthfully. In all, a total of thirty officers investigated this issue and reported no signs of anything living in or around the sewers, and only one report from an eye witness who had claimed to see something, however they then continued to state that it was a family of rodents.
As for where the rumours began, I have a small force of five officers continuing to investigate the issue. There are few leads as the earliest mention of this was painted anonymously in the main waiting area for the Corvus Line in the subway. There have also been insinuations that someone is implanting dreams of creatures living in the sewers within the minds of our citizens, though no one has admitted to dreaming about anything living within our sewer system as of yet.
I have all of today available, though I can meet with you at your earliest convenience should today conflict with your schedule.
Respectfully,
Loki
With a flick of his wrist, Loki's magic wrapped around the letter before forming into a pale green envelope, and it was neatly addressed in the same meticulous hand. Another quick gesture and his letter vanished to be delivered to its recipient without the need for the postman.
