Who: Castiel, Yue Katou What: But what are YOU supposed to be?? When: Sunday Afternoon, September 24 Where: The protest at Centurion Square Status: Ongoing/Closed Warnings: Possibly some language? More TBD?
When he caught sight the large, loud swarm of people in Centurion Square, he’d been curious what brought them all together. The last few times he’d been in a crowd this size – larger, even – it was the festival only a few days ago. That had been exciting and fascinating, and it was this, perhaps, that drew him to the crowd here.
Castiel liked watching humans do their silly human things – so much running around, buying coffee, playing with their children, jaywalking… they were curious creatures and Cas thought perhaps, no matter how long he lived, he could watch only them, every minute of every day, and never fully understand them. Part of that, of course, was due to how fickle they were, celebrating things one moment and complaining about them the next. This crowd… this was not the happy gathering of the Fall Festival.
Cas skirted the edges of the crowd at first, frowning as he listened to people’s conversations. Many of them seemed troubled, even aggravated. This held most of his attention, feeding his nerves, but there was something else here that he could sense even through the swarms of people – something alien and yet edged almost with familiarity. His curiosity piqued, he followed the strange thing.
At this point, he was used to meeting people here in Preya that were neither human nor anything he actually recognized, and Cas couldn’t deny the little delighted thrill of discovery every time. He was an angel – he should know all of his Father’s creatures, and yet… As he worked his way through the edges of the crowd, a softer sound floated across to him. It was not another voice, but an instrument, and as he followed the strange vibration, the music also grew louder, until finally he stood in front of the source of both things.
A boy sat there, playing a guitar. He would seem normal enough, perhaps, to the unknowing eye, but Castiel stared openly. He recognized the boy’s face, he thought, but whatever he was, this boy was not human.
