Percy had taken a little longer to head out of the school than he had originally intended. He kept getting caught up my people wanting to ask questions, one of which was George from his World History class. Had George not followed Percy halfway down the hallway, and gotten so many facts about Ancient Greece wrong, Percy might have been outside on time. The problem was that Percy couldn't just leave with this boy having so much wrong information about the architecture of the ancient world.
"Walk with me," he had stated before leading George toward the school's exit, and spewing every fact he knew about architecture. All of it had been Annabeth's incessant rambling, but who would have thought any of it might have actually stuck? Clearly, not Percy Jackson.
Once the two went their ways, Percy jogged toward the front. He didn't really squeeze between the students leaving so much as maneuver around them. Once outside he glanced around for Ruby, missing her at first until he heard her voice without seeing her. That was when his eyes were drawn to the big guy with his hand on the wall.
Not on my watch, Percy thought before walking over and putting his hand on the boy's shoulder. He was one of those beefy dudes that clearly wasn't used to hearing no. Maybe his mom called him her little prince, or used that tired old boys will be boys line to justify a lot of his behavior. Unfortunately for him, Percy wasn't about to coddle him.
"Hey buddy," he said, giving the boy's shoulder a squeeze as he pulled the guy away from the wall, and by default, Ruby. "Pretty sure she doesn't like it when you call her cutie."
