“Magic on a base level is ‘Soul’ ‘Rhythm,’ and ‘Connection.’” She mirrored Roy with a small smirk, “If you understand yourself and the element you wish to work with you can do magic.” Acantha crossed her arms, she was slightly mocking him, but only slightly. Very slightly. “Everyone has the ability to do it, but I’m beginning to think that’s in Acrema only.”
“Your talk of scholarly alchemists reminds me of certain magic types. Life magic or example is heavily regulated and the only ones who practice it are certified doctors under the medical council.” She explained briefly. Their two systems had an interesting time mirroring each other. “Perhaps we’ll have to sit down and teach each other. There’s interesting parallels between magic and alchemy.”
“With your talk of science I’m guessing alchemy is not god given?” She asked with a mild curiosity. “Magic is given to us by the gods of each element.” She explained in brief. The way she spoke about the gods is was clear that this was truth for her. She believed heavily in the gods, she’d seen them and even fought one after all. -- Now that was something Roy could agree with. The similarities and the differences. They both followed alike rules in different ways. “You know Acantha, I’d greatly appreciate that.” Roy said firmly. “I would like to attempt to understand the magics of your world better, and exchange I will continue explaining and teaching my Alchemy. There must a wealth of knowledge you and I can share.”
Sure they were very different styles, but the reality it was something he could get behind. Knowledge was one of the ultimate powers of the world. Any world. With knowledge you can do so much more than with just a single rifle. Or an obnoxious amount of fire.
“Gods do not exist.” Roy said flatly. A man of science, fact, and no faith… his stance would be immediately known not to be swung by most. As a scholar you only believed with what you could see with your own eyes. Gods were created for keeping the masses calm during insanely stressful times in life. Some make belief figures to pray to in hopes you got a desired outcome. That was ridiculous. Hard work, and studying made it so you could achieve your successes. Then it dawned on Roy. How callus. Roy followed up on his statement. “At least in my world. I of course wouldn’t believe in a god, until I could see it with my own eyes.” The man shrugged. It was just the way it was. -- Acantha nodded, but her good natured mood turned neutral when Roy commented on the gods. She wasn’t one to force her beliefs, it was more a concern on if he’d understand her magic since a lot of it was faith based. “The gods of my world were as real as any person. I’ve seen them and I’ve seen them fight. It is an amazing yet terrifying spectacle.” Acantha shook her head as she remembered the fight.
“Besides that fact, it is strange to think of a place where gods would not exist. However I can understand your thoughts on the matter.” She gave a courteous nod. “We will have to set a time to sit down and discuss. Magic and Alchemy cannot be explained in one day.” She gave the benefit of the doubt to Roy. It sounded like alchemy was very similar to magic and magic was definitely an idea that couldn’t be easily explained.
