Acantha returned his handshake with the same firm force. She met Roy's eyes as he spoke.
“Yeah. It's a higher intensity workout and I'm used to it. So it's my place of choice.” Acantha answered his question, “I'm Acantha. Welcome to Preya.” Her eyes looked up to where he'd motioned, “Oh it seems we're neighbors. I'm over there.” She motioned a little further away from Roy's house.
“The beach is a good place to relax, so excuse me if you see me training. I usually train earlier than this so I won't be in your way.” Acantha replied calmly. She probably wouldn't bring weapons down to the beach, but she might bring her hook down on occasion. For that she'd make sure it was early enough most people weren't on the beach. “Don’t let me bother your relaxation.” She added in an even tone.
Acantha used her foot to flip one of her boots back upright and casually asked, “Are you a military man?” She motioned to his uniform. -- Roy on the other hand, didn’t do such high strung workouts. He might jog or do some light lifting, but he obviously depended on his abilities with alchemy over such trivial things. “Well, you’re not imposing on me. Do it at your leisure obviously.” Roy waved a dismissive hand. “Thank you, Acantha.” Roy responded politely letting his gaze follow her gesture to her house. His neighbor.
“Well, this relaxation thing is quite new to me.” Roy commented. Sure he had some points of relaxation, but it was often work, work, work for him. So doing it was still... odd. “Even if I was, don’t feel you’re going to bother me. I’ve been around much more distracting things than what you were doing.” It was a nature of the beast when you associated with alchemist and their very disruptive science.
The Flame Alchemist looked at his uniform and then back up. There was a nod. “Dog of the military.” He stated. “Previously.” There was just a simple shrug. “Spend most your life in a uniform, it’s more of a second skin than hinderance.” So that was a thing he’d have to adjust. He didn’t have to wear the uniform all the time. Maybe he’d have it adjusted for Preya. It was nice, and formal after all, and he was going to take his role on the council very seriously.
“You? The way you train is more than any civilian.” -- “Revolutionary. But a pirate before that.” Acantha answered with the same simplicity. “Heavy training comes with the job. Besides I like knowing I can cut off a head if the need arises.” She said in a joking tone. Roy didn’t need to know that she’d actually done it.
“No time to relax when you’re in the army, that I understand. Same goes for on a ship.” She made casual conversation, “Might I ask what position you held?” She was genuinely curious. Part of it was a simple interest, but a deep darker part of her soul held the sick curious need to know if she’d killed some one of his position. Not that she’d ever let that slip.
“I was the captain of my ship.” She returned the question as a polite gesture. She observed Roy. He seemed rather plan, but handsome. He was also very nonchalant. She wondered what drove this in him, being a part of the military must have left him with scars but they didn’t show on his exterior shell. It was impressive in it’s own feat and reminded her of herself.
