Who: Roy and Acantha What: Guess whose neighbors! When: (Back dated) April 7th Where: Brightford Warnings: Talk of magic if that ain’t your thing, Roy does fire alchemy Status: Complete, closed It was a fantastic spring day. The sun warmed the sand, but wind provided a wonderful cool breeze. She’d finished warming up when she decided a run on the beach would be great. Acantha headed out and jogged down the sidewalk towards the path down to the beach. She forwent her usual attire for a tank top and loose pants.
The sand was hot underneath her feet. Running on the beach with shoes was blasphemy. The earth might as well open up and swallow her. So she held her shoes as she ran along the wet sand. Just outside of the low tide, it was easy to pretend she was back home in the Castan Empire. The only thing that was missing was her sea dragon following her from the sea. She could almost hear his roaring.
She ran down the beach for about fifteen minutes before pausing and then turning around to run back. As she ran she wondered if she should swim today. “Maybe another day.” She thought to herself as her feet met the sand.
After her run she paused to do push-ups and curl ups in the sand as well. Finishing her reps she fell back in the sand to catch her breath. The grains of sand stuck to her skin and tangled in her hair. She closed her eyes and felt each muscle one at a time. Her ears listened to the sound of the waves and the cries of birds as she relaxed. -- Roy had just moved to this strange land, taking a giant leap into this new word, whatever it was. There were deep negotiations and then he fell into the position as one of the two councilors of Brightford. Now, it was immensely different in comparison to Central.
Brightford was sunny, balmy, and practically paradise. There was just a simple thought if his men saw him like this now? Upon arriving, there was already a house set up for him. It was a modest two bedroom home, one for sleeping the other for an in home office. The place was fully furnished, and it was practically on the beach front. It was just a minor walk down a few flights of stairs and boom. Then on said beach, he was able to set up some place to lounge.
Interestingly enough, he did just that. His first day in Preya, still in his Amestrian uniform, though being on the beach he found he removed his boots, and socks, and the coat was opened up revealing the white tee under it. He was an odd sight for being on the beach. The raven hair man was lounging on a chair when he noticed the woman doing her work out. Interesting. She was a pinnacle of physique, and it was impressive. Reminded him of Riza, which made his heart hurt.
Then she looked over. Roy was staring not purposely, so pushing his emotions aside, he raised his hand in a half wave and continued his lounging. -- Acantha returned the wave casually. She sat up once more before pushing herself to standing. She started to stretch out her legs a little, leaving her shoes beside her. After her legs she stretched upwards and then folded over to touch her toes.
Afterwards she stood and looked out towards the sea for a moment. She was considering still going for a swim. She still had the energy to do so, but would it be worth it? It was a toss up in her mind. So she glanced back at Roy.
She studied the lounging man. He looked vaguely miliary with his uniform, but she couldn't be sure. “Enjoying the sun?” She called out to Roy in a friendly gesture. She usually wasn't one for casual conversation, but she was trying to be more approachable in Preya. Most people were afraid to approach her in Acrema. -- Roy casually glanced up towards the sky some. Was he enjoying the sun? It was such a simple question, to a simple situation. But was he? There was a visible shrug and he responded back. “I suppose I am, as close to enjoying it as I would in the current situation.” Roy responded evenly.
“I just got here, and got to my house.” He pointed up to the house. “So I thought I’d check out the beach down here and it seemed like a good moment to relax.” Roy stretched and stood up from his seat. “It’s something I’m not known for back home.” Slowly the flame alchemist approached the woman who had interrupted her training to greet him.
He’d make it quick.
“I’m Roy.” The man held his hand out to her. “Roy Mustang, new citizen of Preya.” When their hands connected, he gave a firm respectful shake, and after moved both of his hands to his coat pockets with casual intent. “So, the beach must make for a good place to exercise.”
