Acantha shook her head at the mention of fighting off young men. “You would be surprised.” She said simply. Her life was the exact opposite. No one dared to come near her to try to court her. She also didn't really go out of her way to court anyone anyway. Shay always teased she'd get a cat and possibly die alone. He had a morbid sense of humor.
She took his arm when he offered and walked inline with him. Her gait was strong beside him. She gave the valet a polite smile before continuing on. She listened with interest at Aaron's story. She could connect to espionage. Then he asked about her.
“By doing something that grants you the title. It is one given out of reputation and achievement.” She explained simply, “I won a revolution, and thus I was given the title Lady of the Ashes.” She liked her title a lot. It meant a lot to her, but also because it came from only her. She wasn't an heir to someone else's title.
She walked with him to their table. Acantha sat down and smoothed down her dress. She left her bag in her lap and looked up at Aaron again, “So how did you become a Division Agent?” She returned the question with genuine interest. His past was intriguing. Being a soldier was similar to her background of a revolutionary. She was fascinated at how similar and how different their backgrounds could be. -- ”You’re right, I would be.” Aaron said in a level voice. She was lovely, and people should be lined up to try and be where he was right now with her. Though as it stands, Aaron had little fucks to give and people didn’t worry him. If he so saw fitting, that someone was inferior, he would just ignore them and move on. If he didn’t execute them on the spot with a bullet to the head.
When they were seated Aaron casually glanced over the menu before she brought his attention fully back. So in her culture titles were given to those who were deserving? That would be wonderful tradition to be part of. What would his title be? Vanguard, Duke of Deception? King of Treason? The thoughts visibly weighed on him. He truly believed he was doing the right thing, even if so many innocents were going to be sacrificed in the cause. Better kill a few and save the greater good.
Snapping his attention fully back he smiled a smile through his dark thoughts. “Years in the making. I was the original ultimately.” Aaron shared. “That’s where Vanguard came from.” He mentioned. “My journey started with a military school called Citadel. From there I did my tours. Coming back, after leaving service I went into civilian life.” Aaron started to look over the menu once again thinking about it, and how it had been so long ago. “Once out, the government started a program for a secret organization called “The Strategic Homeland Division, or ‘The Division’ for short. We’re called Agents, and we’re given a callsign, mine Vanguard, and some tech to assist us.” At this point a waiter came up inquiring about their order and Vanguard promptly gave a look of annoyance about being interrupted, but cooly ordered a bottle of wine and set the waiter on his way. “We ultimately sit in limbo waiting for the world to end in short. We are the last, most elite trained, and given unlimited resources and jurisdiction on actions.” Aaron sighed setting the menu down looking to Acantha with a devil’s grin. “Incredible how a man can go to last defense to domestic terrorist in a small period.”
Sure there was more. He may touch on that, but first, following the game of life; “What about you? How did you end up in a revolutionary war,” There was a pause while he let his brown eyes lay on hers, letting her name slide of his tongue. “Acantha?”
