Percy hadn't really been paying attention to the fact that Ruby had stopped midsentence. He was too busy focusing on the woman halfway across the car that seemed to remind him of Mrs. Dodds from a million years ago. It had been the southern drawl, but when she turned, she looked nothing like her at all. A few seconds later, he glanced at Ruby when her question actually hit his ears.
"I always thought that was something only grown ups did. Going dancing for a date, I mean," he laughed easily and shook his head. Kids never did that. Sure they went to dances and sometimes at parties they dances, but it wasn't the same. After a few moments, Percy glanced over. "Can I ask you something? About the other day."
